Prosecution and arrest of driver who caused accident that killed 3 mother and children in Nghe An

On March 10, the Investigation Police Agency, Nghe An Provincial Police Department issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain driver Nguyen Duy Quan (born in 1986, residing in Nghi Cong commune, Nghi Loc, Nghe An), driving a truck with license plate 14C-201.03.

"This driver was prosecuted for violating road traffic safety regulations causing serious consequences," said the leader of the Office of the Investigation Police Agency, Nghe An Provincial Police.

As Dan Tri reported, at 6:55 a.m. on March 6, driver Nguyen Duy Quan was driving a truck carrying construction materials. While driving the truck through Hamlet 9B, driver Quan discovered a truck going in the opposite direction and a motorbike carrying 4 people going in the same direction.

Because he was focused on avoiding the oncoming truck, driver Quan did not pay attention and caused an accident with a motorbike carrying 4 people.

The accident caused Ms. Nguyen Thi H. (born in 1997, residing in Hung Trung commune), Hoang Kim O. (born in 2016) and Hoang Van B. (born in 2014) - Ms. H.'s son, to die on the spot. Hoang Van Tr. (born in 2018, Ms. H.'s son) was injured and was taken to the emergency room by local people.

After the accident, Hung Nguyen District Police and Nghe An Provincial Police were present at the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.

It is known that after the accident, driver Quan left the scene. The police then persuaded the driver to come to the police station to surrender. Initial rapid tests showed that driver Quan had no alcohol or drugs in his system.

On March 6, a working delegation from the National Traffic Safety Committee visited and encouraged the victim's family.

At the victim's family, the working group of the National Traffic Safety Committee presented 5 million VND in support for each deceased victim and 2 million VND for each injured victim. Accompanying the group, the Traffic Safety Committee of Nghe An province presented 5 million VND in support for each deceased victim and 2 million VND for each injured victim.

In addition, Hung Trung Commune People's Committee also supported the family with 10 million VND; Hung Nguyen District People's Committee is completing documents and procedures to support the family according to the law.
