Ho Chi Minh City Open Youth Golf Championship 2023 kicks off

The first leg of the VGA Junior Tour - 1st Leg Trang An Golf & Resort system, co-organized by the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) and the Hanoi Golf Association (HNGA), has successfully ended in the joy of young athletes and their families. This coming June, the VGA Junior Tour will return with a new look, bringing the hottest tournaments to the community this summer.

With this organization, to promote the youth golf movement in the Southern region in particular and the whole country in general, VGA cooperated with Ho Chi Minh City Golf Association (HGA) to organize the 2nd leg of VGA Junior Tour - the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Open Youth Golf Championship (VGA Junior Tour 2nd LEG - HGA Junior Open 2023).

As a golf association with a long history in Vietnam, with the motto of promoting the development of golf in both quantity and quality, HGA always focuses on maintaining annual traditional tournaments for many ages, genders and different levels. With the aim of orienting and developing young golf, HGA has organized the Ho Chi Minh City Open Youth Golf Championship, providing a playground for young athletes to compete and get closer to golf.

After 5 years, the Ho Chi Minh City Open Junior Golf Championship has returned as a tournament with the WAGR world amateur ranking within the VGA Junior Tour national youth tournament system with the name, stage 2 of the VGA Junior Tour, the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Junior Golf Championship.

This tournament will mark the role of the "extended arm" of the Vietnam Golf Association in the Southern region. In addition to the first tournament under the HGA brand, HGA will continue to accompany VGA in organizing all 3 tournaments in the VGA Junior Tour system in the Southern region, promising to create attractive tournaments for young golfers.

Sharing about the cooperation in the second stage of VGA Junior Tour, Mr. Vu Nguyen, Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Golf Association said that the purpose of VGA Junior Tour is to organize a system of playgrounds for young golfers across the country with the cooperation of VGA and local golf associations to develop young golf across the country, especially in a leading area like Ho Chi Minh City.

HGA's cooperation with VGA shows trust, cooperation, connection and utilization of local resources to contribute to the youth golf movement which is currently receiving special attention after the success of our young players at the 32nd SEA Games.

On the HGA side, the Board of Directors seeks to professionalize junior golf tournaments as well as new playgrounds for young athletes not only in the southern region but also nationwide. The harmony in vision and mission between the two units is the premise for the second leg of the VGA Junior Tour, the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Junior Golf Championship.

Through the tournament, young athletes will have the opportunity to interact with each other as well as have the opportunity to compete in national competitions. At the same time, at the tournament, HGA and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City will also award Le Khanh Hung - the athlete who won the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games. This will motivate and inspire young people to strive to achieve higher achievements and have a clear development direction in the future.
