Strong cold air has swept down to the North.

On the morning of November 18, a strong cold air mass moved into the North, causing rain and cold, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Accordingly, cold air has affected most of the northern mountainous areas and part of the northeastern region of the North. At Bach Long Vy station, there is strong northeast wind at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that in the next 24 to 48 hours (November 18 and 19), cold air will continue to affect the remaining areas in the North, North Central and some places in the Central Central, then spread to other areas of the Central Central and South Central regions.

On land, strong northeast wind level 3-4, coastal areas level 4-5, some places level 6 gusting to level 7. In the North, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be rain and cold.

Particularly in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, it is very cold (some places in the high mountains are very cold). The lowest temperature during this period in the Northern Delta and North Central region is 12-15 degrees Celsius (very cold threshold). The mountainous and midland areas are 9-12 degrees Celsius. Some places in the high mountains are below 5 degrees Celsius (2 degrees Celsius lower than the forecast on the morning of November 17).

Hanoi today and tomorrow (November 19) will have showers, cold weather (some places will be very cold) with the lowest temperature being 12-14 degrees Celsius (1 degree Celsius lower than the forecast given from the morning of November 17).

The meteorological agency warned that from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa, heavy rains will continue to occur due to the strengthening of cold air combined with high-altitude easterly wind disturbances. Cold and severe cold in the North may affect livestock and poultry and the growth of crops.

At the same time, the meteorological agency also warned that heavy rain in the Central region could cause flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes. In urban areas and industrial zones, heavy rain in a short period of time could cause localized flooding. At sea, strong winds with gusts and large waves continue to hinder the operation of ships and economic activities at sea.
