Compete to do charity work for the poor and vulnerable

The Association has mobilized and assisted more than 102 million people, with a total value of over VND 29,186 billion, an increase of 45% compared to the previous period, actively contributing to the implementation of social security goals, caring for the disadvantaged, and supporting sustainable poverty reduction in the country.

This information was provided to the press on the morning of November 18, in Hanoi, during a press meeting organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , introducing the 6th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (2025-2030 period).

Speaking at the program, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Hai Anh said: The 6th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society will take place on November 22 and 23 in Hanoi, with about 400 delegates and guests attending, including 270 advanced models honored and rewarded. The Congress is an event of special political and social significance, taking place on the occasion of the whole Society celebrating its 79th anniversary (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2025) and implementing the "Humanitarian Power 2025" Program, a "great festival" honoring the humanitarian spirit and spreading compassion in the community. Through the Congress, we will continue to arouse and spread more strongly the spirit of "competing to do good deeds", becoming a driving force to promote humanitarian movements to develop widely and sustainably, contributing to building a humane society, leaving no one behind.

In the efforts to overcome difficulties and the emulation movement's mark in the 2020-2025 period, it is noteworthy that the entire Association has mobilized and assisted more than 102 million people, with a total value of over VND 29,186 billion, an increase of 45% compared to the previous period, actively contributing to the implementation of social security goals, caring for the disadvantaged, and supporting sustainable poverty reduction in the country.

In the field of humanitarian social work, the Association at all levels has implemented many models close to the people and needs, such as "Pot of love porridge", "Red Cross kitchen", "Red Cross rice jar", "House helping house", models of capital support for livestock farming, economic development..., with a total value of 21,676 billion VND, assisting 56 million people (an increase of 44% compared to the previous period).

Many practical interventions have been promoted such as cash support, livelihoods, clean water, safe housing, safe schools, early warning and action systems...

Head of the Organizing and Inspection Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross, Pham Thi Ha Chien, added: Major movements and campaigns continue to affirm the core role of the Association in humanitarian work. Many key programs and special campaigns have left a deep impression on society, such as COVID-19 prevention activities with a total value of 1,624 billion VND; the "Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen" program reached 133.7 billion VND, supporting more than 119,000 people, building and repairing 1,077 houses in 291 communes in 23 coastal provinces and cities; the "Nutrition for poor and disabled children" program with a resource of 487 billion VND, supporting about 3.5 million children and building 119 boarding kitchens with a total value of nearly 30 billion VND.

Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Nguyen Hai Anh emphasized: Entering the 2025-2030 period, in the context of the country promoting innovation, national digital transformation, promoting green growth, circular economy and improving the ability to adapt to climate change, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has determined the goal of continuing to strongly innovate the patriotic emulation movement, associated with the implementation of the Resolutions of the 11th and 12th National Red Cross Congresses and the Society's Development Strategy to 2030, vision 2045. The emulation movement will focus on deepening the Society's major campaigns; promoting disaster prevention and response, community health care, blood donation and organ donation; strengthening resource mobilization, international cooperation and social humanitarian programs associated with the goal of "leaving no one behind".

To achieve that goal, the Vietnam Red Cross Society focuses on promoting propaganda and dissemination of Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on patriotic emulation and the Party and State's policies on emulation and rewards. Along with that, strengthen leadership and direction so that the spirit of patriotic emulation becomes a regular awareness and responsibility of each cadre, member and volunteer. At the same time, innovate the content and form of organizing the movement in a practical direction, oriented towards the grassroots, associated with building a strong Association. Improve the capacity of the staff, promote the application of information technology, promptly discover, honor and replicate advanced examples, good models, and creative ways in the patriotic emulation movement.
