According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently (November 28), a cold air mass is moving south from the North.
Around the afternoon of November 30, this cold air mass will affect the northeastern region of the North; then to other places in the North, North Central and Central Central regions. Northeast wind inland will strengthen to level 3; coastal areas level 4-5, gusting to level 6.
From the night of November 30, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cold, with some areas in the mountainous areas of the North experiencing severe cold. During this cold spell, the lowest temperature in the North and North Central regions will generally be between 16-19 degrees Celsius, while in the mountainous areas of the North, it will be between 12-15 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas, it will be below 11 degrees Celsius.
At sea, from the evening of November 30, the Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8, waves 2-4m high, rough seas; the North East Sea area (including the waters of Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong northeast winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, waves 4-6m high, rough seas.
From early morning of December 1, the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the northern part of the Central East Sea has northeast winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, waves 2-4.5m high, rough seas.
Due to the influence of cold air, from November 30, the Northeast region will have scattered rain and light rain; in the afternoon of the same day, the North Central region will have rain, showers, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Notably, from the night of November 30 to December 3, in the area from Southern Nghe An to Binh Dinh, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-300mm/period, in some places over 400mm/period.
On the afternoon of November 28, the Hydrometeorological Station of Thua Thien Hue province also warned that from November 30 to December 4, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. The total rainfall is generally 150-350mm, with some places over 500mm. The heaviest rain will be concentrated in the plains, midlands, coastal areas, and the south of the province from December 1 to 2.
In the 10-day weather forecast (November 28-December 8) for Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station also stated that the continental cold high pressure will be strengthened from November 30 to December 1, then stabilize and gradually weaken; around December 5-6, it will be weakened again.
At the same time, high-altitude easterly wind disturbances will affect the Southern region from November 29 to December 1 and from December 3 to 5. Over the Southern seas, northeasterly winds will operate at medium to strong intensity.
Therefore, with the above weather pattern, around November 30 and from December 3-6, there will be more rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the South, with thunderstorms occurring mainly in the late afternoon.
The meteorological agency warns that thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes. Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas.
In addition, strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boat operations and other activities.
Low temperatures can affect crops and livestock.
The North is about to welcome stronger cold air, the Central region will have rain again
Around the middle of next week (November 29-30), a cold front will move into the North of our country. After that, it will rain again in the Central and Southern regions.
