Cold air strengthens, possibility of unseasonal rain for several days in the South

TPO – The meteorological agency forecasts that in the remaining days of 2024, the Southern region will have unseasonal rain due to the influence of easterly wind disturbances.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last evening (December 25), the tropical depression (weakened from storm No. 10) continued to weaken into a low pressure area in the offshore waters from Ninh Thuan to Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

By this morning (December 26), this low pressure area continued to move southwest, weakening and gradually dissipating.

The weather in the South today is cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places, the lowest temperature is from 22-25 degrees Celsius, the highest is from 30-33 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that cold air will strengthen again in the north of our country from this afternoon, December 26. The low pressure area will move west-southwest and weaken, gradually dissipating over the sea from Binh Thuan - Ben Tre . Above, the subtropical high pressure tends to encroach west. East wind disturbance (causing rain) will form and affect the Southern region from December 27.

In the following days, the cold air will stabilize after weakening, and around December 31, it will strengthen again in the north of our country. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis through the Central region will continue to encroach on the west. East wind disturbances (causing rain) will form and affect the southern region on December 28 and December 30.

Based on the above main weather patterns, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces and cities in the remaining days of 2024 will continue to be cold due to the influence of cold air. Particularly on December 27, 28 and 30, the area will have unseasonal rain with scattered areas and thunderstorms in some places. Beware of the possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
