On the morning of May 30, Road Management Area IV announced an adjustment to the load limit on Mang Thit Bridge as follows: prohibiting vehicles with a total load of over 10 tons and prohibiting passenger vehicles with over 30 seats from crossing the bridge; the minimum distance between two adjacent vehicles along the bridge is 35m.
The notice was sent by Road Management Area IV to the Department of Transport of Vinh Long province, Traffic Police Department, Vinh Long Provincial Police; Department of Transport of Tra Vinh province, Traffic Police Department, Tra Vinh Provincial Police; Road Management Office IV.4 and Construction Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company 717.
In particular, the Road Management Office IV.4 is assigned to preside over and direct the 717 Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company to urgently adjust the placement of the bridge load restriction signs as above; adjust the contents of the notices installed on the route accordingly. The completion time is before 3:00 p.m. on May 30, 2024.
It is known that Mang Thit bridge located on National Highway 53 was hit by a tugboat pushing a deck carrying about 960 tons of rock on the afternoon of May 27. Although there were no casualties, the collision caused the deck carrying rock to hit the old Mang Thit bridge support pillar, causing the deck to cave in, flip over and collide with cross beams 19, 20, 21 (new Mang Thit bridge) causing damage.
