President of Vietnam Association for Promoting Education , Professor, Doctor Nguyen Thi Doan delivered the opening speech. |
On October 1, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision 1658/QD-TTg, identifying key tasks to implement the green growth strategy for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. The goals in this strategy all revolve around the human factor, with people not only being the center but also the subject and driving force behind green development.
Through thematic meetings, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education has initially identified the core content of Green Education Promotion to promote the development of green thinking, green lifestyle and green skills for everyone, starting from the members themselves and spreading in the community. This is a direction that is consistent with the Association's functions, and at the same time meets the requirements of the National Strategy on Green Growth according to Decision 1658/QD-TTg.
Specifically, promoting green learning aims at three main goals: Raising awareness and thinking capacity for members, helping each member better understand the concept of green development and sustainable development; from the content of the workshop, moving towards amending and supplementing criteria to "green" the learning models that the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education is implementing, but when developing the criteria, the idea of promoting green learning and implementing Decision 1658/QD-TTg has not yet appeared. At the same time, coordinating with relevant agencies, especially the Ministry of Education and Training to promote green education and promote green learning in the coming time.
Referring to the development of green education in the green transformation education system, Professor, Dr. Pham Tat Dong said: Green education is an educational model formed to realize sustainable development goals. Not only stopping at improving facilities, green education also requires "greening" the training program, content and teaching and learning methods.
Through this, learners will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to contribute to the sustainable development of society. This model looks towards the future associated with protecting the living environment, building a civilized society and promoting the economy in the context of the ecosystem facing many risks of degradation.
According to Professor, Dr. Pham Tat Dong, the goal of green education in Vietnam needs to focus on three main points. Specifically, building a model citizen with a green lifestyle and green consumption on the basis of developing green thinking; implementing a comprehensive green transformation in the national education system. This includes adjusting schools, programs, content, teaching methods, school health management and building environmentally friendly facilities. Finally, actively participating in green education transformation programs around the world, becoming part of global green education movements.
