Agricultural extension quietly sows seeds of knowledge, helping farmers gain confidence in farming

QUANG NINH Quang Ninh agricultural extension officers not only impart knowledge but also become a solid support for farmers on the path to sustainable agricultural development.

Quang Ninh province's agriculture is changing rapidly towards modernity. This puts farmers under pressure to innovate and adapt. Accompanying farmers on this journey are Quang Ninh agricultural extension officers, who quietly stick to the fields, contributing to the application of science and technology to production. They are the bridge between policy and practice, between research and life, silently sowing seeds of knowledge to reap trust and economic efficiency for farmers.

During that journey, the way of working of the Quang Ninh province agricultural extension team is increasingly linked to practice. They not only organize theoretical training but also directly "hold hands and show people how to choose seeds, take care of crops and livestock, and handle incidents when natural disasters and epidemics suddenly occur. In each production model, the mark of agricultural extension is clearly shown in the spirit of companionship, sharing and responsibility.

At the Quang Ninh Agricultural Extension Center, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Toan, who has been involved in technology transfer in the livestock sector for many years, is a typical example. Although her work often requires her to travel far to mountainous villages or border areas, she still maintains her passion for the job.

Each of her trips not only brings technical manuals and veterinary medicines but also the dedication of the worker. Ms. Toan confided that the greatest joy for her is when she sees people successfully apply new advances, increase their income and become more confident in farming.

From the livestock models in mountainous communes to coastal plains, Quang Ninh agricultural extension officers are always present in the most difficult places. When pests and diseases break out, when livestock show signs of abnormality, they are among the first to arrive at the scene.

Not only providing technical solutions, they also encourage, guide, and help people calmly handle and protect production. Thanks to that companionship, many households have boldly changed their way of doing things, moving from small-scale production to a linked model, ensuring a more stable output.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh in Dam Ha commune shared: "Previously, I lacked capital and technology. The Provincial Agricultural Extension Center has provided a lot of support, thanks to which I have the opportunity to develop the model more widely."

In Hai Lang commune, when the locality began to experiment with the brown fish farming model, many people were still hesitant. Mr. Bui Huu Son, an officer of the Practice Station - Technology Transfer and Agricultural Extension Services, patiently guided each household to monitor water quality, check the health of the fish, and provide instructions on how to handle disease outbreaks.

Thanks to that, the first farming seasons have brought positive results, with higher economic value than traditional fish breeds. This success has helped people confidently expand their scale, and at the same time, formed a new direction in local aquaculture development.

Mr. Son shared: “Agricultural extension is not only a technical profession but also a profession of patience and understanding. Each cadre must know how to listen, grasp the psychology of the people, and at the same time learn and improve their qualifications to promptly adapt to new requirements.”

The process of technology transfer now does not stop at supporting seeds or materials but has expanded towards "modern agricultural extension", combining ecological agriculture, circulation and value chain linkage. Agricultural extension officers also proactively use information technology, connecting people via phone and Zalo groups, helping technical guidance become more flexible and effective.

Ms. Hoang Thi The, Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Agricultural Extension Center, said: “Innovation in agricultural extension work has contributed significantly to the formation of sustainable production models. From the model of raising specialty poultry in mountainous communes to the model of applying high technology in the plains, each model is associated with the efforts of the agricultural extension staff.

We work with the people to vaccinate, treat diseases, renovate barns, and select breeds suitable to the natural conditions of each region. Thereby, the province's agricultural products are increasingly diverse, valuable, and have the potential to expand the market."

To meet the requirements of modern agricultural development, the Quang Ninh agricultural extension team constantly innovates its working methods. They proactively update their knowledge from institutes and schools, learn from successful models inside and outside the province, and then draw on their experiences to apply them appropriately to local conditions. It is their eagerness to learn, flexibility, and learning spirit that have helped them become a solid bridge between scientists, businesses, and farmers.
