Traffic Police Team No. 11 inspected and handled cases of alcohol concentration violations from the evening of April 23 to the early morning of April 24.
With the ultimate goal of reducing traffic accidents, Hanoi Traffic Police force is still tirelessly patrolling, controlling and maintaining traffic order and safety on the roads of the capital.
Authorities check people's alcohol levels.
At around 8:40 p.m., the task force discovered a young man driving a motorbike with license plate 36F1-40xx with suspicious signs, so they signaled him to stop. The driver was identified as NHL, born in 1983, residing in Quoc Oai district. Despite showing signs of intoxication, he initially repeatedly delayed the alcohol test. It took nearly 10 minutes of explanation and guidance for the authorities to conduct the test. The measurement results showed that the alcohol concentration exceeded 0.4 mg/liter of breath (0.568 mg/liter).
In Mr. L's case, he violated the alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 mg/liter of breath.
Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Sy Ly, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 11, said that controlling alcohol levels in suburban areas faces many obstacles due to people's living habits. "Many people still have the mentality that weddings, funerals, and gatherings require alcohol. Drinking after work cools us down, so when performing our duties, we always have to follow the rules, conduct ourselves, and behave properly, but at the same time, we must resolutely handle violations," said Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Sy Ly.
Proceed to make a record of Mr. L.
Next, the task force continued to discover another case, a man born in 1980, from Thai Binh , driving a motorbike with license plate 54P7-12xx. Test results showed that this person's alcohol concentration reached 0.760 mg/liter of breath, nearly double the highest threshold according to current regulations. Explaining to the authorities, this person said that he worked in construction, after a tiring day of work, he drank a few glasses of beer to "cool off".
This driver had an alcohol concentration of 0.026 mg/L.
According to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government , drivers with an alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 mg/liter of breath will be fined from 8 to 10 million VND and have their driving license revoked for 23 months.
Lieutenant Colonel Bui Xuan Phuong, Deputy Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 11 (Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police) said: "Working conditions at night are completely different from during the day, the road is dark, there are no vehicles, the speed is also higher, the visibility of both drivers and traffic police is reduced. However, we still seriously carry out the assigned tasks, contributing to preventing the dangers of drinking alcohol when participating in traffic".
