According to the plan, in 2025, Dak Doa district will replant 300 hectares of old coffee. To make the coffee replanting program effective, the district has implemented solutions to control the quality of agricultural materials, support people with replanting techniques and encourage people to apply water-saving irrigation systems to adapt to climate change.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Doa district - said: In order for people to use quality seed sources, the district cooperated with Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited to support people to buy about 300,000 high-quality coffee seedlings recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment at a price 1,000 VND/tree lower than the market price and support additional transportation costs of 100 VND/tree.
Regarding fertilizers, the District Farmers’ Association will support people in accessing branded and quality-assured fertilizers. At the same time, encourage people to use agricultural by-products to compost with biological products to create organic fertilizers for replanting, minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers. In addition, strengthen inspections of agricultural material trading establishments in the area to control the quality of materials and organize training courses to help farmers replant effectively.

Ms. Nhem, Chairwoman of the Glar Commune Farmers' Association, said: This year, the commune replanted 18 hectares of coffee. Up to this point, 25 households have registered to buy 28,000 quality seedlings under the coordination program of the district and Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited to receive subsidies. Currently, the Commune Farmers' Association is also coordinating with the higher level Association to disseminate quality fertilizers for people to use.
More than 5 years ago, Mr. Amyom's family (Dok Rong village, Glar commune) replanted their coffee area and has so far brought high efficiency. He said: "My family has 5 hectares of coffee. With the support of the district in terms of price, from 2019 to now, I have replanted nearly 2 hectares. Thanks to the use of quality coffee varieties, the replanted garden has grown well and has high productivity. Currently, more than 1.2 hectares of replanted coffee have been harvested, with a yield of 4.5 tons of beans/ha, nearly 2 tons higher than before replanting."
Mr. Ro Mah Thue (Groi Wet village, Glar commune) shared: His family has 4 hectares of coffee. From 2020 to now, his family has replanted and grafted 1 hectare. Currently, this area is developing well and is expected to be harvested by the end of 2025. This year, his family continues to register with the Commune Farmers' Association to receive subsidies to buy seedlings for replanting and grafting 1 more hectare.
In Duc Co district, this year, the district has included in the plan to replant and graft 55 hectares of coffee. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tu - Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment - informed: For the coffee replanting program, the selection of quality seedlings and fertilizers determines the effectiveness of the production process. Therefore, in previous years, the district has allocated a budget of 800 million VND to 1 billion VND to grow seedlings and provide them to people in the form of people contributing 30% of the price of seedlings to help people access quality seedlings.
This year, the district did not allocate funds for seedling cultivation but focused on promoting and advising people to choose coffee varieties that have been recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and have been grown effectively locally for production. At the same time, the district continued to organize inspections of agricultural material trading establishments to control the quality of fertilizers and seedlings in the area; and advised people to use quality agricultural materials to ensure production efficiency.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Thi Tho - Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection - said: Clearly identifying the importance of controlling input materials to help people improve the efficiency of replanting orchards, on February 20, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) issued Document No. 538/SNNPTNT-CCTTBVTV on strengthening the management of plant varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides in the province.

Accordingly, the Department recommends that localities increase information and propaganda to raise awareness of compliance with regulations on agricultural material trading for establishments and individuals doing business in the area. At the same time, prioritize the allocation of funds in local budget estimates to organize activities to inspect and monitor the quality of plant varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides in circulation and use in the area and step up inspection, supervision, and rectification of the management of organizing seminars, advertising, and introducing products locally. Thereby, promptly detect and prevent the production and trading of fake, counterfeit, and poor-quality agricultural materials, minimizing damage to producers. In addition, step up propaganda, recommendations, and warnings for people not to buy and sell through unreliable online platforms without clear addresses to avoid buying fake, counterfeit, and poor-quality goods of unknown origin, not yet circulated, and not yet permitted for use in Vietnam.
“In addition to the above solutions, localities need to continue to direct and promote propaganda, support and encourage organizations, individuals and households to use new coffee varieties with high productivity, high quality, pest and disease resistance and drought tolerance that have been recognized. At the same time, guide people to replant coffee according to the correct process of preventing pests and diseases on coffee trees according to the ICM and IPHM programs. In addition, apply high technology and biotechnology to coffee production according to standards to ensure sustainable development for the garden,” Mr. Tho added.
