State Audit recommends handling financial issues of more than VND254,000 billion and more than USD125 million

On the afternoon of October 20, State Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan briefly reported to the National Assembly on the work of the State Audit for the 2021-2026 term.

State Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan said that during the past term, the State Audit has stepped up and resolutely audited state budget settlement reports at all levels to serve the National Assembly and People's Councils of provinces and cities in approving state budget settlements.

Provided 1,749 reports to Congress and authorities

Regarding the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity, the State Auditor General issued and resolutely implemented Directive 1346 on strengthening discipline, order, and public ethics; resolutely fighting and combating corruption and negativity in the performance of public duties.

During his term, Mr. Tuan said that the State Audit has provided 1,749 audit reports and related documents to agencies of the National Assembly, the Central Inspection Committee , investigation agencies and other competent state agencies to serve the investigation, inspection and supervision work...

Along with that, 17 files were transferred to the Police Investigation Agency to investigate and clarify cases with signs of law violations.

The State Audit has audited two cases with signs of corruption under the direction of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

Mr. Ngo Van Tuan informed that as of September 30, the State Audit recommended handling finances of more than VND254,000 billion and more than USD125 million.

Proposed to abolish, amend, supplement and issue new contents that are contrary to or inconsistent with general State regulations and practices for 938 legal documents and management documents at all levels.

At the same time, focus on checking and evaluating the capacity of auditors to improve the quality of the team and meet task requirements.

During his term, Mr. Tuan shared that for the first time since its establishment, the State Audit has organized an annual periodic assessment of updating professional knowledge and skills in auditing activities.

This forms the basis for assigning audit tasks to civil servants and auditors throughout the industry.

Regarding direction, State Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan said that the entire industry will continue to focus on auditing "hot" topics that are of interest to public opinion, the National Assembly and voters, in conjunction with the National Assembly's supreme supervision plan.

The State Audit continues to strengthen discipline and public order, and strictly manage audit activities to prevent violations.

Mr. Tuan recommended that agencies, ministries, and localities strictly implement the audit conclusions, especially the mechanisms, policies, and handling of collective and individual responsibilities for violations. He also suggested reviewing, researching, and reporting to competent authorities to promptly remove obstacles in the process of implementing audit recommendations.

State Audit gives opinions on more than 4,000 personnel

In a report sent to National Assembly delegates, the State Audit said the annual audit organization plan is built according to the principle of "compact but quality".

To improve the effectiveness of the fight against corruption, waste and negativity through auditing activities, the State Audit has issued an auditing process for cases showing signs of corruption.

Issue guidance on a number of contents on auditing the implementation of thrift and combating waste in the management and use of public finance and assets.

Coordinate the work of detecting, transferring, receiving, and handling denunciations and reports of crimes and recommending prosecution of cases with signs of corruption, economic crimes, and negative acts.

According to the report, in performing its assigned duties and tasks, the State Audit has provided opinions to more than 4,000 personnel at the request of the Central Organizing Committee to ensure timely, honest, and objective accountability related to audit conclusions and recommendations...

From there, it serves as a basis for advising the Politburo and the Secretariat to review, approve planning and appoint strategic-level officials.

The report affirms that the State Audit plays an important role in providing reliable information on the activities of ministries, branches and localities in the management and use of public finance and public assets.

Thereby helping competent authorities have a basis to pass important decisions on personnel, contributing to improving the quality of strategic human resources.
