
Warmly welcoming Mr. Kover Laszlo leading a high-ranking delegation of the Hungarian National Assembly on an official visit to Vietnam, President Luong Cuong assessed the visit as having important significance in the context that this year Vietnam and Hungary celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1950-2025), taking place not long after the official visit of the Hungarian President to Vietnam in May 2025, thereby demonstrating the high trust between the two countries; at the same time, he expressed that the visit of the National Assembly Chairman will contribute to further promoting the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership as well as cooperation between the two legislative bodies to develop more deeply and effectively.
The President expressed his sincere thanks for Hungary's valuable support and assistance to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation as well as in the current national construction and development; and affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen cooperation with Hungary, a top priority partner and Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in Central and Eastern Europe.
Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam again after 10 years; respectfully conveyed greetings from President Sulyok Tamás and Hungarian leaders to President Luong Cuong; and sincerely thanked the high-ranking leaders and people of Vietnam for the warm, respectful and thoughtful reception for the delegation.
At the meeting, the two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in the Vietnam-Hungary relationship in all areas, especially since the two countries established a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018. The two sides have exchanged many delegations at all levels, including high-level ones; economy and trade continue to be a bright spot in the bilateral relationship with two-way turnover from 2020-2024 at about 1 billion USD per year; cooperation in the fields of defense - security, education - training, culture, environment, etc. continues to achieve many good developments.
Appreciating the results of the talks between Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly, President Luong Cuong hoped that the legislative bodies of the two countries would continue to coordinate to create a legal corridor, facilitating efforts to promote cooperation between the two countries, meeting the common interests of the two nations, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

To promote Vietnam-Hungary cooperation to continue to develop more substantially and effectively, the President suggested that the two sides increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels and through different channels to consolidate political trust; promote cooperation in economics, trade, investment; defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture - tourism and promote people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, expand new areas of cooperation where the two sides can complement and support each other.
Agreeing with the proposals of President Luong Cuong, the Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly said that the legislative bodies of the two countries will coordinate to implement high-level agreements, support the two governments to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields, soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 2 billion USD in the coming time; affirmed that the Hungarian National Assembly will support the remaining EU member countries to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), support the European Commission (EC) to remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports.
Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Hungary to the local socio-economy and affirmed that the National Assembly and authorities at all levels of Hungary will continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the community.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two leaders affirmed that Vietnam and Hungary will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, within the ASEAN-EU framework; at the same time, they affirmed their support for the stance of resolving disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law, to maintain stability and security in each region.
The Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly agreed that, in the context of power politics, strategic competition and separation, the two sides need to coordinate to strengthen multilateral cooperation, make responsible and constructive contributions to regional and international issues, for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
On this occasion, the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament conveyed President Sulyok Tamas's regards and invitation to visit Hungary to President Luong Cuong. The President happily accepted the invitation and said the visit would be arranged through diplomatic channels.
