The inspection focused on assessing the implementation of the Action Month with the theme "Ensuring food safety, focusing on collective kitchens, catering services, and street food". Thereby, the authorities will promptly detect and handle violations in food production, trading, and advertising, and at the same time correct shortcomings in management work.

The Steering Committee assigned the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to establish 5 interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct inspections in 10 provinces and cities.

The delegations are chaired by units under the three ministries, in coordination with the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control (Ministry of Public Security), units under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and specialized testing facilities.

Each delegation will inspect two localities, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hanoi, Bac Giang, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dien Bien and Lai Chau.

In addition to the five central interdisciplinary inspection teams, the ministries of Health, Agriculture and Environment, and Industry and Trade also directed functional units to organize surprise inspections of provinces and cities to effectively implement the Month of Action for Food Safety.

The Ministry of Health said that in 2024, the health sector inspected 354,820 establishments and discovered 22,073 establishments violating food safety regulations, accounting for 6.22% of the number of establishments inspected. The number of establishments fined increased 2.9 times compared to 2023, and the amount of fines increased 1.69 times.

The police force prosecuted 62 cases (an increase of nearly 88%) with 97 defendants (an increase of more than 185%).
