Ensuring safety and security for relics in Thanh Hoa province

Accordingly, upon receiving information that the Tomb of King Le Tuc Tong (belonging to Lam Kinh Historical and Architectural Relic, Thanh Hoa Province) was illegally excavated to search for antiquities, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province to direct the competent authorities to urgently assess the extent of damage to the Tomb of King Le Tuc Tong, and at the same time inspect the overall status of other relics in the province to promptly detect and prevent acts of encroachment on the relics, and propose solutions.

Propose that the Provincial People's Committee strengthen measures to ensure security and safety for relics, artifacts, and antiquities belonging to the relics; prevent and stop acts that are strictly prohibited according to the provisions of the law on cultural heritage and other relevant legal provisions. At the same time, mobilize people to raise awareness and responsibility in protecting relics, promptly detect and handle acts of encroachment on relics, artifacts, and antiquities belonging to the relics.

Previously, at 9:30 p.m. on May 3, the Thanh Hoa Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation discovered signs of damage to the tomb of King Le Tuc Tong and immediately reported to the authorities and the police to investigate. Using professional measures, on May 4, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police coordinated with the Quang Ninh Provincial Police to arrest two subjects who had damaged the tomb.

The Provincial People's Committee has issued a document assigning the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with relevant units and localities to urgently investigate and clarify the case of encroachment on King Le Tuc Tong's tomb, and strictly handle acts of encroachment, unauthorized digging, and illegal searching for relics and antiquities in the relic area.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province shall continue to strengthen management and urge units and localities to effectively carry out the work of protecting and promoting the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots assigned to their management and direct management, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage.
