On January 17, the Ministry of Health sent a document to the Directors of hospitals under the Ministry, Directors of Health Departments of provinces and cities, and Heads of Health of ministries and branches on strengthening medical examination, treatment and emergency care during the Lunar New Year 2025.
According to the direction of the Ministry of Health, medical facilities must ensure 24/7 on-call duty, including: leadership duty, hotline information processing, professional duty, administrative - logistics duty and security.
The Ministry requires medical facilities to fully prepare medicine, blood, infusion fluids, medical equipment and facilities necessary for emergency care, especially in traffic accidents, food poisoning and other emergencies.
Ensure that all emergency patients are examined and treated promptly, without being refused or delayed. If necessary, medical facilities must provide initial emergency care, stabilize the patient's condition, and transfer them to medical facilities with adequate facilities for intensive treatment.
The Ministry of Health pays special attention to improving the spirit of patient service attitude, communication and behavior with care and courtesy. At the same time, medical facilities must have plans to deal with accidents, poisonings, and mass emergencies, including warning people about the risks of accidents that may occur during Tet, such as traffic accidents due to alcohol, food poisoning, stampedes in crowded areas, or incidents related to firecrackers and homemade weapons.
Before and during Tet, the Ministry of Health will conduct surprise inspections of the preparations and regular implementation of a number of hospitals, institutes under the Ministry and local hospitals.
Medical facilities need to prepare adequate hospital beds and emergency equipment, while ensuring procedures for screening, patient triage, isolation, and hospital infection prevention.
In addition, the Ministry of Health requested the Departments of Health to strengthen monitoring and inspection of the epidemic situation at border gates, organize communication campaigns to prevent epidemics, and continue to monitor and inspect food products, especially during the holiday season.
The Ministry of Health also requested the Departments of Health, hospitals and institutes under the Ministry to closely coordinate with agencies such as the police and fire prevention and fighting units to ensure security and order, and fire prevention and fighting safety at medical facilities during Tet.
The Ministry also emphasized ensuring food safety conditions during the festival, inspecting food production and trading establishments, and strictly handling food safety violations.
In disease prevention, the Ministry of Health requires the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institute to strengthen monitoring and early detection of cases at border gates, communities and medical facilities to promptly handle and control the spread of the disease.
At the same time, the Drug Administration will ensure adequate supply of drugs, preventing drug shortages, especially drugs to treat winter-spring diseases.
Medical facilities must prepare adequate facilities and human resources to respond to epidemic situations, while ensuring hospital infection prevention and control, and applying information technology in health consultation and remote medical examination and treatment.
The Ministry of Health also requires medical facilities to implement inspection measures and strictly handle violations of food safety and acts of producing and trading fake and poor-quality drugs.
Medical facilities need to proactively coordinate with authorities, especially in disease inspection and surveillance and ensuring the quality of drugs for treatment and emergency care during Tet.
