In hot and humid weather conditions, along with the risk of environmental pollution, spoiled food... unsafe food practices in food production, trading and consumption are the biggest factors that cause high risks of food poisoning and food-borne diseases in the community.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chung, Hoang Van Thu ward (Thai Nguyen city), said: We hope that authorities at all levels and functional sectors will increase inspection and supervision of food production and trading establishments so that they are responsible to consumers and aware of ensuring food safety.
Faced with the risks of food safety and hygiene and the people's wishes, in its role as a standing agency, the Department of Health recently consulted with the province to develop a Plan to implement the Food Safety Action Month in 2023 with the theme "Ensuring food security and safety in the new situation".
Mr. Dang Ngoc Huy, Director of the Department of Health, said: Implemented from April 15 to May 15, Thai Nguyen's Food Safety Action Month 2023 carries many messages such as: Strengthening propaganda andeducation to raise awareness, identifying responsibilities and actions of Party committees, Party organizations, cadres, Party members and people in ensuring food safety and security. Along with that, promoting the role and responsibility of organizations, individuals and enterprises in implementing food safety laws; promptly informing about safe, high-quality food supply chains and establishments that violate and pose potential risks to food safety and security.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food safety and security work; resolutely combat, prevent and strictly handle organizations, individuals, production and business establishments that violate regulations on food safety and security; promote the role of authorities at all levels, management agencies, social organizations and consumer supervision of compliance with food safety laws for individuals, food production and business establishments. At the same time, improve the capacity to prevent and proactively handle food poisoning and food-borne diseases; minimize poisoning due to consumption of unsafe food.
In addition to regular activities on food safety, the 2023 Action Month is also a highlight of the year, creating a peak period, launching a communication campaign to comply with food safety laws in food production and trading activities; minimizing violations in food production and trading; proactively preventing food contamination, minimizing food poisoning, especially food poisoning cases in which many people suffer from using unsafe food.
This is also an opportunity to attach responsibility to People's Committees at all levels to focus on directing and allocating resources for food safety work; improve the effectiveness of coordination at the local level, between functional agencies and socio-political organizations in ensuring food safety; promote the sense of responsibility to the community of individuals, production and business organizations, and consumers for ensuring food safety.
After the holiday, Thai Nguyen established 3 interdisciplinary inspection teams of the province chaired by the Department of Health, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, to conduct inspections and post-inspections in districts and cities in the province; will publicize establishments and individuals violating administrative regulations on food safety to warn, deter, and prevent illegal food production, trading, and advertising...
