Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Tran Thi Thu Thin, all Embassy staff, representatives of Movitel Telecommunications Company and the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.
At the Embassy headquarters, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader of the Vietnamese people, National Liberation Hero, and World Cultural Celebrity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin highlighted the great contributions and historical stature of President Ho Chi Minh, affirming that Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style are priceless spiritual heritages of the Vietnamese people, and are also a strong source of inspiration for oppressed peoples around the world.
The Ambassador emphasized that for the African people in general and Mozambique in particular, President Ho Chi Minh is a symbol of independence, self-reliance and the desire for freedom. Therefore, to express the respect and admiration of the Mozambican people for the Vietnamese leader, in 1977, immediately after gaining independence, President Samora Machel, the first President of the People's Republic of Mozambique, now the Republic of Mozambique, decided to name the large avenue passing through the town hall in the capital Maputo, Ho Chi Minh Avenue, after him.
Ambassador Tran Thi Thu Thin called on the Vietnamese community in Mozambique to constantly strive, study and follow Uncle Ho's moral example. The Ambassador also emphasized the role of the Vietnamese community in preserving national identity, promoting solidarity and mutual love, contributing to building a strong community, integrating well with the host country and making positive contributions to the Vietnam-Mozambique friendship.
