28th Anniversary of the Establishment of Bac Lieu Provincial Bar Association

On the afternoon of April 18, the Bac Lieu Provincial Bar Association solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Bac Lieu Provincial Bar Association (April 17, 1997 - April 17, 2025). Attending the ceremony were Lawyer - Dr. Dao Ngoc Chuyen - Vice President of the Vietnam Bar Federation, Chairman of the Hanoi Bar Association; representatives of the Executive Boards of the Bar Associations of Can Tho, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Ca Mau; Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Justice of Bac Lieu province and leaders of the provincial Justice agencies.

On January 1, 1997, along with the re-establishment of Bac Lieu province, in order to promptly meet the legal requirements of state agencies, social organizations and citizens, the Bac Lieu Provincial Bar Association was established on April 17, 1997 with 7 members. After 28 years of development and growth, the Association now has a total of 60 lawyers; 24 practicing organizations, including 7 law firms and 17 law offices.

“The team of lawyers of the Association has been affirming the position of the legal profession in society, recognized and trusted by the Party, the State and the People”, shared Lawyer Nguyen Duy Son - Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial Bar Association. Over the past 28 years, the Provincial Bar Association has achieved many outstanding achievements. Each year, the Association regularly organizes many free legal consultancy programs; member lawyers participate in hundreds of legal aid cases; cases at the request of the prosecution agency and more than 500 cases in which clients invite lawyers to participate. These figures not only demonstrate the positive contribution of the Provincial Bar Association in legal work but also affirm the prestige and responsibility of the Association in the community. The Chairman of the Provincial Bar Association affirmed that the celebration ceremony is an opportunity to affirm and acknowledge the deep concern of leaders at all levels and functional agencies for the Provincial Bar Association; is an opportunity to summarize, evaluate and commend the proud achievements of the provincial lawyers. Thereby, arousing the confidence, pride and solidarity of the provincial lawyers, continuing to consolidate and strive for the activities of the Union to become stronger and more developed.

Assessing the role and contributions of the Provincial Bar Association, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Justice, stated that the Provincial Bar Association has made many important contributions to resolving legal disputes, protecting the rights of related parties, ensuring the right to defense of suspects, defendants, and litigants at court; contributing to helping the prosecution agencies detect and correct shortcomings, clarify objective truths, try the right people, the right crimes, and the right law, ensuring the strictness of the law. Lawyers are not only defenders of justice but also trusted companions of the people in providing legal advice, helping to raise legal awareness in the community.

The leaders of the Department of Justice also asked lawyers to continue to strive, practice ethics, professional skills and improve their professional qualifications. Identifying this as a noble mission, lawyers must always maintain integrity, dedication and responsibility in the spirit of upholding the law, protecting justice and the legitimate rights of the people.
