Mr. Chau Dinh Nguyen, Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hue City emphasized the above at the meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism (May 9, 1945 - May 9, 2025) taking place on the afternoon of May 8.

Attending the event were Ms. Mizonova Maria Georgievna - Consul General of the Russian Federation in Da Nang, along with representatives of departments, agencies, and more than 150 members of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hue City.

At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the glorious historical victory of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People (June 22, 1941 - May 9, 1945), which not only saved humanity from the genocide of fascism, supported the national liberation movements in the continents to win, including the August Revolution in Vietnam in 1945, but also created the factors of the times to help humanity all over the world advance to a new level of progress. This is a brilliant epic in the history of humanity in the 20th century, having a profound impact on the development process of the whole world.

In particular, the victory of the Soviet Red Army over fascism created an opportunity for the Vietnamese Revolution. Empowered by this historic victory, the Vietnamese people rose up to gain national independence, successfully carrying out the historic August Revolution in 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, starting a new historical journey full of glory and pride for the Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chau Dinh Nguyen - Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hue City affirmed that, looking back over the past 80 years, the relationship between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation today has made great strides. History also links the fate of both nations.

“As Vietnamese people, we are very proud of the traditional, close, and friendly relationship between the Vietnamese and Russian peoples, and even more proud that in the army defending Moscow in the winter of 1941, there were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers. And on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Russian Federation's Victory Day, there will be Vietnamese soldiers participating in the parade on the historic Red Square. That is a testament to the friendship and loyal relationship between the people of our two countries,” Mr. Nguyen affirmed.

On this occasion, with the support of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hue City displayed more than 20 precious documentary photos about the great patriotic war of the Soviet Union.
