“Lost” in the green farm of Hoa Hai Border Guard Station

Along with carrying out political tasks, officers and soldiers of Hoa Hai Border Post (Huong Khe - Ha Tinh) also focus on increasing production with the endless green of fruits and vegetables.

Hoa Hai Border Guard Station is located in Hamlet 3, Hoa Hai Commune (more than 12 km from the Ho Chi Minh Trail). Traffic is difficult, especially in the rainy season, so "self-sufficiency" in food, vegetables and green fruits is considered an "immutable" goal of the officers and soldiers here.

Visiting Hoa Hai Border Guard Station in late April, we felt like we were lost in a large farm of more than 3 hectares, of which more than 1 hectare is the station's headquarters, the rest is a vegetable garden, fruit trees and livestock area.

In the vegetable garden there are all kinds of green vegetables, from water spinach, Malabar spinach, okra, amaranth, Malabar spinach to squash, pumpkin...

The green vegetable and fruit trees are meticulously cared for by officers and soldiers. This activity not only helps officers and soldiers practice working habits but also contributes to beautifying the campus, creating more clean vegetable sources for the unit. On holidays or after office hours, officers and soldiers of Hoa Hai Border Guard Station take turns weeding, fertilizing, and taking care of plants...

Thoroughly implementing the spirit of building a “bright - green - clean - beautiful” unit associated with increasing production and improving the lives of soldiers, all officers and soldiers in the unit enthusiastically participated. In particular, thanks to promoting the spirit of “skillful hands, good work”, each vegetable bed, livestock... is lush and healthy.

From 2017 to now, the unit has planted 160 red-fleshed dragon fruit trees, harvesting tons of fruit each season. " For each officer and soldier of Hoa Hai Border Guard Station, increasing production not only improves meals but also brings joy after stressful days of training and patrolling" - Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Quang Tuan shared.

In addition, the unit also owns 70 pigs...

... 4 buffaloes, 10 cows...

... with a flock of 400 chickens.

In addition to patrolling, training and combat readiness, production is always considered important. This activity helps increase food rations for soldiers and carry out planning and construction of landscapes and unit grounds.

Hoa Hai Border Guard Station is responsible for ensuring security along the 15.32 km border, from border markers 498 to 502. In addition to organizing patrols, controlling, and strictly managing, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area, officers and soldiers of the station also build a strong, disciplined, exemplary unit and train it to be ready for combat. For the past 2 years, the unit has always achieved the title of excellent training, exemplary model with 98% of officers and soldiers achieving good and excellent results.
