Bank interest rates on December 16th: Three more banks significantly increase rates, exceeding 6% per year.

Three more banks join the interest rate race.

On December 16, 2025, the deposit interest rate market saw three more banks – Loc Phat Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( LPBank ), An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBank), and BaoViet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BaoViet Bank) – join the upward trend. This move brings the total number of banks adjusting interest rates upwards since the beginning of December to 21.

LPBank significantly increased interest rates across all maturities.

LPBank saw the sharpest increase, adjusting deposit interest rates across all maturities from 1 to 60 months. Specifically:

Interest rates for 1-month and 2-month terms increased by 0.6% per year, to 4.5% per year and 4.6% per year, respectively.
Interest rates for terms of 3-5 months increased by 0.55% per year, reaching the ceiling of 4.75% per year .
Interest rates for terms of 6-11 months increased by 0.5%/year, now listed at 6.1%/year . This is one of the few banks offering interest rates above 6%/year for terms under 12 months.
Interest rates for terms of 13-60 months increased by 0.55% per year, reaching 6.2% per year , which is also the highest rate at this bank.

ABBank only increased interest rates for long-term deposits.

In contrast to LPBank, ABBank only significantly increased interest rates by 0.8% per year for longer terms. Online deposit interest rates for 36, 48, and 60-month terms all rose to 6.1% per year . The over-the-counter interest rate for these terms is 6% per year.

Interest rates for terms from 1-24 months remain unchanged, placing ABBank among the private banks with the lowest short-term interest rates. ABBank's online interest rates for other terms are currently as follows: 1 month at 3.1%/year, 6 months at 5.3%/year, and 12 months at 5.6%/year.

BaoViet Bank adjusts interest rates upwards by 0.2% per year.

BaoViet Bank has uniformly increased interest rates by 0.2% per year for terms ranging from 6 to 36 months. Accordingly, the online interest rate for a 6-month term has risen to 5.85% per year , and the 12-month term has reached 6% per year . Terms from 13 to 36 months are listed at the highest rate of 6.1% per year . Interest rates for terms of 1 to 5 months remain unchanged.

Of these, NCB, VPBank, and Techcombank have adjusted their interest rates twice.
