On August 5 in Hanoi , the National Data Center (NDC), the National Data Association (NDA) and VTV officially announced the launch of the "Who is the real fighter" contest.
This is the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) competition held on national television to discover and nurture technology talents, develop Vietnamese AI core technology, promote the AI ecosystem and contribute to realizing the goals of the National Digital Transformation Strategy.
The competition will be broadcast on multiple platforms, from television to digital platforms and social networks, creating an attractive and large-scale real-life playground for the technology community across the country.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha - Head of the Topics - Science and Education Department, Vietnam Television shared: "With 'Practical AI', we not only create an attractive TV show but also build a comprehensive ecosystem, where young talents are exposed, breakthrough ideas are nurtured and AI technology is brought closer to life. This is a strategic collaboration between the national media agency, government data management agency, professional associations and leading technology experts, demonstrating Vietnam's strong commitment to mastering technology and opening up a prosperous digital future."
The "AI in Action" competition is designed with a unique format, combining entertainment and technology, in-depth education , including 4 main stages:
Phase 1: Kick-off and Preliminary (Online). In August 2025, the competition will officially open its registration portal nationwide, welcoming all students, programmers, researchers, technology startups with knowledge of artificial intelligence, programming, etc. aged 18 and over. The teams (each team of 3 members) will submit their initial applications and products via the online platform.
Phase 2: Final Round (Skill Challenge). Taking place from September - October 2025, the Jury will select the 100 best teams to enter the online Final Round. The teams will face AI product creation skill challenges in various fields to select the 12 best teams to win tickets to the Semi-finals.
Phase 3: Semi-final round (Developing and optimizing Vietnamese AI platform models). In October-November 2025, after 4 weeks of developing and optimizing Vietnamese AI platform models for real-life problems, 12 excellent teams will gather in Hanoi to participate in a centralized recording. Here, they will use Vietnamese AI platform models to compete and demonstrate their ability to develop and optimize Vietnamese AI platform models for real-life problems.
Phase 4: Final Round (Practical AI Gala): December-January 2026, after 4 weeks of developing practical AI applications, the 3 best teams and 1 team with the highest number of audience votes will compete directly in the grand Final Gala night, broadcast live on VTV2 and VTV3 in front of millions of viewers nationwide to find the champion of the first season.

Speaking at the event, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong - Director of the National Data Center said that this contest is very practical, contributing to realizing the major strategies of the Party and State, developing technology, innovation, digital transformation, especially AI.
According to Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, the contest not only promotes creativity and implements the era of "Digital Literacy for the People" but is also an intellectual playground, a place to nurture young people, scientists, and technology experts to demonstrate their talents, and a place to discover and nurture, contributing to building high-quality human resources in AI.
Major General Nguyen Ngoc Cuong also hopes that through this competition, contestants will have access to experience applying the most modern AI technologies, solving practical problems, thereby improving their skills, knowledge, creative thinking and teamwork ability. "This is an opportunity for students, scientists, technology experts to exchange, learn, share experiences, connect with businesses, and at the same time, through the competition, we can find and attract many talented experts at home and abroad, contributing to Vietnam's production of many Make in Vietnam science and technology products."
The "Practical AI" competition is a pioneering activity, strongly responding to the "Popular Digital Literacy" movement launched by the General Secretary, with the goal of popularizing digital knowledge and skills for all people, to "build a society that is not only rich in knowledge but also rich in technological power."
According to the organizers, the special feature of 'Practical AI' lies in the fact that for the first time, Vietnamese technology experts have independently designed a TV game show format that closely follows the vivid reality of AI application capabilities, especially Generative AI from the contestants. The Competition Platform was created by experts from the National Data Association - applying artificial intelligence in the scoring process, ensuring absolute fairness and transparency for the contestants.
Contestants not only compete in technology skills but also directly solve problems from businesses and social reality, receive advice from the world's leading AI technology experts and have the opportunity to develop their products through international standard startup incubation programs to help products reach the world.
With a total prize value of up to billions of VND, the competition not only brings attractive financial rewards but also opens up many career development opportunities. The best teams will have the opportunity to participate in a professional startup incubation program after the competition./.
