On November 15, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Kuroiwa Yuji, Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture, who came to pay a visit and work in Vietnam from November 11-17.
At the reception, General Secretary To Lam expressed his delight that the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing well in all fields with the main pillar being economic cooperation, new pillars being science and technology cooperation, cultural cooperation, human resource connection and people-to-people exchange becoming increasingly practical and effective.
Expressing his gratitude for Governor Kuroiwa Yuji's sincere feelings for Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the practical contributions of Governor Kuroiwa Yuji and the Kanagawa prefectural government in promoting friendly cooperation between the province and Vietnam in the fields of economy, investment, culture, education , labor, as well as cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Kanagawa province is the first locality in Japan to organize the Festival event and annual investment and labor seminars in both Japan and Vietnam.
The General Secretary said that these events will continue to be a place to connect the people of the two countries, contributing to enhancing understanding and friendship between the two nations, promoting cultural exchange, tourism and economic cooperation; emphasizing that cultural cooperation is an important factor creating depth and a solid foundation for the friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Governor Kuroiwa Yuji expressed his honor to pay a visit to the General Secretary; reported to General Secretary To Lam about the 6th Kanagawa Festival being held in Hanoi, as well as a series of trade and investment promotion activities, connecting businesses and localities held in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City during this visit.
Governor Kuroiwa Yuji said that 10 years after the first Vietnam Festival was held in Kanagawa Prefecture in 2015, Vietnamese enterprises have begun investing in the prefecture and currently there are 22 Vietnamese enterprises operating in the prefecture and 32 prefectural enterprises investing in Vietnam.
Governor Kuroiwa Yuji affirmed that Kanagawa Prefecture will further promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of labor, people-to-people exchange, culture, as well as encourage businesses of the province to invest in Vietnam; is ready to share experiences in health care and responding to an aging society through the MEBYO initiative (Initiative on maintaining a healthy and long life for people) which is being implemented in the province and has been included in the content of the signed cooperation document with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.
Agreeing with Governor Kuroiwa Yuji’s proposals, the General Secretary expressed his belief that in the coming time, Kanagawa province will continue to promote its strengths, promote investment cooperation, cultural exchange and enhance cooperation in human resource training with Vietnamese localities; and suggested that Kanagawa province continue to organize Vietnam-Japan cultural festivals.
Expressing his gratitude and appreciation for Kanagawa Prefecture’s policies towards the Vietnamese community in the province in recent times, the General Secretary asked Kanagawa Prefecture to continue providing practical support to the community of 40,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working as well as the activities of Vietnamese enterprises in the province; and to promote the exchange and sharing of the province’s experiences in responding to population aging and health care.
At the meeting, Governor Kuroiwa Yuji informed General Secretary To Lam about the project to build the musical " Princess Anio" with a plot based on the true love story between Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Shotaro in Nagasaki province more than 400 years ago, saying that the musical is expected to be premiered in Kanagawa province in September 2026./.
