Spreading traditional values ​​of ethnic groups at Cultural Heritage Festival

This year's festival is renewed in a diverse, intimate and highly interactive direction, combining folk art performances with experiential activities, folk games and local cuisine.

In order to preserve, honor and spread the traditional cultural heritage values ​​of ethnic groups in Gia Lai province in particular and the whole country in general, the Cultural Heritage Festival 2025 with many unique cultural and artistic activities will take place from May 21-25 in Gia Lai.

In particular, through a series of performances, exchanges and rich experiences, the event contributes to raising awareness and responsibility of people, especially the young generation, in preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.

The festival is also a space to connect the community, promote the image of Gia Lai - a land rich in identity to domestic and international friends. In that space, the sound of gongs, the colors of brocade and the flavors of traditional cuisine blend together, visitors will feel the enduring vitality of the "living heritage" that is being preserved and passed down through each generation.

According to information from the organizing committee, this year's festival has been renewed in a diverse, intimate and highly interactive direction, combining folk art performances with experiential activities, folk games and local cuisine.

A series of unique cultural and folk art performances will take place throughout the three days of the event with performances such as: "Ten Drums Opening the Festival" by the Ngoc Phu Lion and Dragon Club; Bai Choi folk songs by the Provincial Cultural Center; New Rice Celebration gongs, Po Thi Festival, Jrai folk songs performed by the Kep village artisans (Thong Nhat ward); the sound of the Khen and flute expressing love by the H'mong people, Ya Hoi commune; Xoe dance, Then singing, Tinh lute, and bamboo dance performances by artisans of Ia Lau commune...

In addition, locals and tourists also have the opportunity to enjoy water puppetry performed by artisans from the Hue Ancient Capital Puppetry Theatre, Cham dance by the Van Canh commune artisans, and a performance of the heritage ao dai...

The highlight of the festival space is the exhibition areas that also create opportunities for visitors to directly experience gong playing, xoang dancing, weaving, brocade weaving, making to he figurines, calligraphy, tea ceremony, making Dong Ho paintings or trying on traditional costumes of the Jrai, Bahnar, H'mong, Thai, Cham, Muong ethnic groups... Each group of artisans is arranged with a separate space to both introduce their typical products and interact and guide visitors to participate in traditional cultural activities.

Along with artistic activities, the festival also offers a folk game area with games such as stick pushing, stilt walking, rice pounding, throwing balls, tug of war, capturing the flag, bamboo dancing, and hopscotch… helping players immerse themselves in the bustling festival atmosphere of the highlands.

The traditional culinary area is attractive with specialties such as bamboo rice, grilled chicken, rice wine, banh it, thang co, five-color sticky rice, Lang Son roast pork, ocean tuna... along with rustic dishes from the subsidy period such as roasted peanuts and draft beer to recreate memories of the past.

In particular, the subsidy-era booth at the festival will be a place to display items and artifacts associated with Vietnamese life in the 70s and 80s such as stamps, oil lamps, cassette players, old tables and chairs... creating a nostalgic and intimate space.

More than 10 artisan groups, clubs and schools in the area, along with the participation of artists from Hoa Binh, Cao Bang, Khanh Hoa... will participate in the Cultural Heritage Festival 2025 with the hope that the program will not only become a meeting place for the elite, but also a vivid demonstration of Gia Lai province's efforts in preserving the source of national culture, bringing heritage closer to the community and tourists from all over the world./.
