On November 7, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, inspected the flooding situation at the national relic of Phu Dien Cham tower (My Khanh village, Phu Vinh commune).
At the scene, the inspection team recorded that the Phu Dien Cham tower was submerged in water about 0.7m deep. The flooding at this relic has lasted for many days.

Mr. Hoang Hai Minh criticized the relic management unit and local authorities for being slow in reporting and implementing treatment plans.
The Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee requested to mobilize more pumps to urgently pump out water, and assigned relevant units and local authorities to organize regular monitoring and supervision, ensuring that all flood water must be pumped out within the day and the results must be reported.
In the long term, Mr. Minh suggested that the management unit research and propose more effective protection plans for the relic, especially drainage and flood prevention solutions to ensure safety for the relic and surrounding areas.
The Phu Dien Cham Tower was previously buried 5-7 meters deep in the sand below ground level. It was discovered by a titanium mining group in 2001 on a sand dune along the coast of Phu Dien commune, Phu Vang district (now Phu Vinh commune, Hue city).
After the discovery, the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province (old) directed the relevant agencies to deploy protection work and conduct surveys and exploration of this location.
Research results show that Phu Dien Cham tower is a unique architectural work of the ancient Champa culture, built around the 8th century, still existing almost intact underground, at a depth of 5 - 7m below ground level.
At the end of 2001, the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ) decided to recognize Phu Dien Cham tower as a national architectural and artistic relic.
In 2022, Phu Dien Cham Tower was recognized by the World Records Union (WorldKings) as the "First ancient brick Cham tower excavated and preserved deep under a coastal sand dune in the world".
