However, what the Tet flower farmers here are concerned about is the flower market this year, especially when in recent months, many agricultural products have been stagnant and have fallen in price. Therefore, compared to the Tet flower crop in previous years, this year, My Phong flower farmers have calculated more carefully, choosing flowers to suit customers' tastes.
Ms. Ngo Thi Mai, My Hoa hamlet, My Phong commune said: "Although this year, the quantity of flowers I grow is less than last year, but this year the weather has been rainy and I don't know what the market will be like, what the prices will be, so I'm worried. Currently, I grow 2,500 flower baskets with many types of chrysanthemums, gypsophila...".

For the 2024 Lunar New Year flower crop, Mr. Cao Van Mot, My Hoa hamlet, My Phong commune, planted about 8,000 flower baskets, mainly varieties such as: Raspberry chrysanthemum, Dutch chrysanthemum, carnation, cockscomb, marigold... Mr. Mot said that for chrysanthemums, he planted them in the 6th lunar month, but marigolds are short-lived, so they were planted at the end of the 10th lunar month.
According to Mr. Mot, the weather for this year's Tet flower crop was not very favorable from the beginning due to heavy rain, but up to now, the weather has been relatively stable and has not affected the growth of the flowers. However, the increasing prices of fertilizers and labor are also a concern for flower growers during this year's Tet crop.

Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, residing in My Hoa hamlet, My Phong commune, said: "The number of flower growers is decreasing. In addition to the impact of the weather, increased fertilizers, materials... nowadays, flower growers tend to buy flower seedlings to grow themselves for Tet, so they are also worried that the demand for flowers during Tet this year will decrease. Therefore, this year I have planted nearly 1,000 fewer flower pots than last year."

In the 2024 Lunar New Year flower crop, farmers in flower villages in My Tho City will grow about 940,000 baskets of flowers of all kinds, a decrease of about 107,000 baskets compared to the 2023 Lunar New Year. For flower farmers, the Tet flower crop is considered the biggest business of the year, so farmers always expect favorable weather "favorable rain, favorable wind" to achieve a successful crop.
