Listening to workers and laborers is not only a responsibility but also a "measure" of the connection between trade unions, enterprises and laborers. When the voice of laborers is respected, policies, benefits, working conditions and the lives of laborers will be increasingly improved. Therefore, trade unions at all levels organize many meetings, dialogues and exchanges to proactively grasp the thoughts and aspirations of laborers, thereby finding more practical and effective solutions.

Policies that benefit workers and laborers

To care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees, the grassroots trade union (CTU) in enterprises carries out many activities towards employees . In particular, the signing of collective labor agreements between the representatives of employees - the executive board of the CTU and the employer - the board of directors of the enterprise is given special attention. The collective labor agreement stipulates favorable terms (higher than the provisions of the law) for employees based on the opinions, recommendations, and suggestions of employees after meetings , dialogues, exchanges, etc. between the CTU, the enterprise and employees .

At SAMBU LA Company Limited (Duc Hoa District, Long An Province), the collective labor agreement stipulates many beneficial provisions for employees, helping them feel secure in their work and stay with the Company for a long time. That is, during the probationary and apprenticeship periods, employees are paid 100% of their salary compared to the salary signed in the labor contract; employees who have worked for a full year will be based on the regulations for building a salary scale to increase their salary annually, ensuring a minimum level of 5% or more. The salary increase is calculated based on the employee's diligence and skills in that year; the labor market situation, social life, price fluctuations, etc.

Every month, the Company considers promoting employees based on the Board of Directors' assessment. In addition, SAMBU LA Co., Ltd. also rewards employees. Bonuses are based on the Company's annual production and business results and the level of work completion of employees.

Every year, employees receive 3 bonus periods including the anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30), International Labor Day (May 1); National Day (September 2); Lunar New Year. Accordingly, employees with an official working period of 1 year or more receive a bonus of 200% of the basic salary/year; employees with an official working period of less than 1 year, the bonus level is based on actual working time.

At Long An Water Supply Joint Stock Company (Tan An City), the Company's Trade Union cares about and listens to the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of union members and employees through weekly and monthly meetings. Vice President of the Trade Union of Long An Water Supply Joint Stock Company - Nguyen Thi Kim Nhu shared: "Thanks to listening to the opinions of union members and employees, the Company's Trade Union promptly takes care of and resolves difficulties for union members and employees. For example, in the case of union members and employees living far from the Company and wishing to have a place to rest at noon, the Company's Trade Union arranges 3 resting rooms for union members and employees to restore their labor force to work effectively. In addition, the collective labor agreement at Long An Water Supply Joint Stock Company is implemented in accordance with the minutes of agreement. In particular, the provisions bring practical benefits to union members and employees such as the Company supports 100% of the 1% union fee that union members have to pay monthly,...".

Accompany and support workers and laborers

Not only doing a good job of caring, the Unions and Enterprises at all levels also proactively accompany, support, update, supplement knowledge as well as create conditions to promote the capacity of employees. In order for employees to improve their knowledge and protect themselves better, the Provincial Federation of Labor in coordination with the Provincial Center for Disease Control organizes propaganda on policies, laws and reproductive health care for employees at 5 enterprises in the province.

Participating in the propaganda, Mr. To Minh Chi - CN Sheen Bridge Co., Ltd. During the propaganda sessions, in addition to having their questions answered, workers are also provided with a lot of knowledge about labor policies and laws such as regulations on signing labor contracts, terminating labor contracts, illegal termination of labor contracts, severance pay, and unemployment benefits.

In particular, policies for female workers include not being allowed to fire female workers for reasons of marriage, pregnancy, or raising children under 12 months old; not being allowed to unilaterally terminate contracts with pregnant female workers, workers on maternity leave, or workers with children under 12 months old; ensuring adequate bathrooms and toilets at the workplace; consulting female workers or their representatives when deciding on issues related to female workers.

Female workers also have a better understanding of regulations on night work, overtime, raising children under 12 months old, and maternity leave. Workers are also informed about issues related to social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, etc. Female workers are also advised on measures to prevent and combat infections, sexually transmitted diseases, the need for regular reproductive health check-ups, regular gynecological check-ups, etc.

Listening to employees does not stop at meetings and dialogues, but needs to be concretized by practical actions, appropriate policies and the support of trade unions and enterprises at all levels. When employees are listened to and understood, they will have more trust, attachment and dedication to the enterprise. That is also an important foundation for building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations at the enterprise./.
