Previously, there were times when the number of brick kilns increased sharply to about 2,280 kilns. The ceramic industry also had over 12,000 workers participating in production, with thousands of different designs and products, Vinh Long ceramic products were present in countries around the world...
With a production output of nearly 50 million products/year, the average revenue of ceramic brick enterprises is estimated at about 700 billion VND/year and has gradually become a strength of the province, famous for the brand "Vinh Long Red Ceramic".
In particular, there was a time when the red brick and ceramic production industry accounted for about 50% of the industrial production value of Vinh Long province, contributing significantly to the provincial budget, contributing to economic and social development and improving the lives of local people.

However, due to increased production costs, outdated technology and reduced market demand, the red brick and ceramic production industry in Vinh Long has declined. Over the past 10 years, more than 1,250 brick and ceramic kilns have been demolished in the province, with the remaining number of brick and ceramic kilns in the province now being about 850.
Faced with the above situation, Vinh Long province has had many activities with the hope of "reviving" the more than 100-year-old red brick and ceramic craft village in Mang Thit district.
Most recently, on November 15, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province approved the planning project to build a red brick and ceramic craft village to become a new symbol in the transformation of traditional agricultural production model to service economy, specifically a key tourist area of the province, oriented to be a national tourist area.

According to the approved planning project, this area has a scale of 3,060 hectares in the communes of My An, My Phuoc, Nhon Phu, Hoa Tinh (Mang Thit district) and is divided into 9 sub-areas.
The focus is on the ecological agricultural area associated with the brick and red ceramic kiln area with an area of over 1,000 hectares. The rest are sub-areas for service development - tourism, resorts, urban and rural residential areas with an area of over 2,000 hectares.
The total population of the planning area is currently about 20,000 people, expected to be 34,200 people by 2030. Of which, the local population is about 23,000 people, the rest are workers and tourists. By 2045, there will be nearly 62,000 people here, of which nearly 50% are tourists and workers.
Vinh Long province is also calling for about 3,500 billion VND of socialized capital to invest in the oldest and most unique red brick and ceramic craft village in the West.
