Lang Son focuses on implementing the project to build smart border gates

According to the report of the Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, after the Project was approved by the Prime Minister, Lang Son province established a Steering Committee to implement the Project and working groups to assist, and at the same time developed a plan to implement the Project. Currently, Lang Son province is focusing on directing the implementation of work related to 3 projects under the Project.

Regarding the project to expand the specialized freight transport road in the area of ​​milestones 1119-1120 (total adjusted investment is 230.5 billion VND), the expansion from 4 lanes to 6 lanes (phase 1) is currently being implemented and is expected to be completed in June 2025. The Lang Son Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is completing the procedures and is expected to carry out the expansion to 14 lanes in May 2025.

According to the Lang Son Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, it is expected that in June 2025, the project to expand the specialized freight road in the area of ​​​​marker 1088/2-1089 at Huu Nghi International Border Gate from 4 lanes to 8 lanes will begin. This is a project with a total investment of nearly 536 billion VND, with the implementation period from 2025 to 2027.

In addition, the Inter-sectoral Working House Project for functional forces in the area of ​​the specialized freight transport road at milestone 1088/2-1089 (total investment of more than 123 billion VND) will also be implemented in June 2025.

The work of connecting databases, building 5G mobile network infrastructure, building import-export procedures and medical quarantine procedures... is also being researched by Lang Son province and will soon be put into implementation.

In early April 2025, Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the pilot project on building smart border gates in Lang Son province, and the working delegation inspected the implementation of projects under the project, chaired a conference to review the report on the results of the project implementation; reviewed the draft working regulations of the Steering Committee. At the working sessions, relevant departments and functional forces reported on the implementation progress, analyzed the difficulties that caused the implementation to be slower than the set goals, and discussed and proposed many solutions to remove them so that the implementation of the project would achieve the highest efficiency.

According to comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, currently, the Chinese side (Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi) has basically completed the infrastructure, equipment... to serve the implementation of the smart border gate model, therefore, regarding the tasks in the coming time, Lang Son province determines the role, meaning, and importance of the Project, thereby determined to accompany and share responsibility in the implementation.

Comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, gave a speech directing the implementation of the Project.

Departments, branches, functional agencies, and the two districts of Van Lang and Cao Loc need to focus on completing site clearance and handing over the site in a timely manner to start construction soon, thereby helping to focus all efforts on construction, soon completing and putting the items into operation.

The Management Board of Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone closely coordinates with relevant agencies and units to research and develop operating procedures, inspection and quarantine procedures for import and export goods and vehicles; proactively complete legal procedures to be able to put into operation as soon as the Project is completed.

Lang Son Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs effectively coordinated foreign affairs with Chinese agencies of the same level, achieved high consensus during the construction process, and ensured smooth operation of the smart border gate after the completion of the Project.

In addition to implementing the pilot project to build smart border gates, relevant agencies and forces of Lang Son province continue to focus on synchronously deploying solutions, flexibly handling arising problems, focusing on improving customs clearance capacity, determined to prevent congestion of vehicles and goods at the border gate area.
