Forest fire after exploitation in Thai Nguyen

Chairwoman of Tien Hoi Commune People's Committee Pham Thi Luu said that after exploiting a 7-year-old acacia forest on an area of ​​about 2 hectares, the remaining scene was branches, tops, and leaves. People burned the ground to prepare for planting new trees, but could not control the fire, leading to the fire spreading.

When people discovered the fire at 8:00 p.m. on May 9, the local government mobilized 190 people to fight the fire, including leaders and civil servants of the commune; the Forestry Department, the Military Command, the commune militia; police, grassroots security, district forest rangers and local people.

Firefighters used sprayers, shovels, machetes, fire extinguishers, and water hoses to put out the fire. By 10 p.m. the same day, the fire was under control, did not spread to the existing forest, and did not cause damage to people or property.

Tien Hoi Commune People's Committee directed local forces to closely monitor the scene on the night of May 9 and the morning of May 10 to prevent fires from recurring; to propagate and raise people's awareness during hot days to prevent forest fires; and to strictly handle individuals and organizations that cause fires.
