On the afternoon of November 19, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ngoc, Deputy Director of SOS Children's Village Quy Nhon, said: "Currently, SOS Children's Village Quy Nhon is surrounded by floodwaters, isolated and inaccessible. All nearly 130 orphans and their mothers, aunts, uncles and staff of the Village have moved to the second floor to ensure safety. However, the water continues to rise, threatening the safety of all children and staff in the Village."
"In the SOS Children's Village Quy Nhon, there are many newborn babies, the rest are school-age children. The biggest difficulty now is ensuring food and water for the children because this area is inaccessible due to heavy flooding. Although we have called for help many times, the Village has not yet received any assistance from the rescue forces. Currently, the Village is in dire need of assistance in evacuating and accessing basic necessities," Mr. Ngoc added.
Not only at SOS Children's Village Quy Nhon, the floods have caused many residential areas in the East of Gia Lai province to be cut off and isolated. Currently, local authorities are implementing measures to reach out, support evacuation as well as provide necessities to people in affected areas.
