Ms. Dong Ngoc Anh - Deputy General Director of SunGroup Corporation said: Currently, Phu Quoc is having a very strong development in infrastructure, is a place that gathers most of the famous hotel brands in the world . Besides the infrastructure that is gradually being completed, other services in Phu Quoc are also being invested and developed in a variety of ways to serve tourists, for example, there are highlight projects that are highly appreciated by tourists, businesses have also invested in world-class shows, tourists coming here all love it. In particular, Phu Quoc is currently being urged by the Government to invest in upgrading floors to welcome APEC. It can be seen that the opportunities opening up for Phu Quoc are huge. But to turn the opportunities into reality, there needs to be a visa policy specifically for Phu Quoc.
"Currently, Phu Quoc is exempting visas for all international visitors for 30 days, but can we increase it to 90 days?", Ms. Dong Ngoc Anh asked. Ms. Anh cited: "At the end of 2023, I remember there were only about 8 international flights/day, but at the peak at the beginning of this year there were up to 40 international flights/day and it may increase even more in the near future. In particular, there are many tourists who need to stay long-term. There are tourists who stay in Phu Quoc for 2-3 months. I also surveyed how you guys got visas to stay for such a long time, and I know that visitors have to manage on their own, have to temporarily exit to a neighboring country and then return. So should we extend the visa to 90 days or longer so as not to make it difficult for tourists?".
Ms. Dong Ngoc Anh - Deputy General Director of SunGroup Corporation proposed many policies to exempt visas for tourists coming to Vietnam.

Sungroup Group representative proposed: "Given the current development in Phu Quoc, we need to have a policy specifically for this destination to create conditions for visitors to stay longer. Specifically, we can pilot visa issuance at the border gate for large groups of visitors, wealthy visitors, visitors from target markets, retirees or tourism investors, technology investors, bringing high economic value without environmental or domestic security risks. In addition, there should be a policy to issue visas right at the border gate for visitors, creating quick procedures at the airport such as creating green lanes. In the past, there were times when visitors to Phu Quoc had to queue for 4 hours to be able to leave the airport. We need to have more open and truly effective policies for visitors to arrive easily, quickly and conveniently, both ensuring national security and defense but also supporting economic development, bringing economic benefits, sustainable development".
Regarding the target group of visitors who can be exempted from visas immediately to promote tourism, Ms. Dong Ngoc Anh proposed that it is possible to consider unilateral visa exemption for countries such as the EU (countries that have not been exempted), Australia, New Zealand and some rich countries in the Middle East such as the UAE, Qatar, etc.
Making further recommendations on tourism promotion policies in the coming time, the leader of SunGroup proposed that there should be an international tourism conference held in Vietnam, in which international celebrities and KOLs could be invited, thereby providing experiences and reviews for better promotion. In addition, businesses in the tourism and transportation sectors can join together to organize promotions, thus creating more strength and wider spread.
A representative of SunGroup Corporation shared: "In the past, SunGroup and Vietnam Airlines have joined hands to organize media trips for international reporters and journalists in target markets. We have designed destinations and given them special experiences, and these programs have resonated and brought about very good results. Currently, SunGroup is making efforts to create highlights for tourists, such as turning Phu Quoc into a fireworks island, with 2 fireworks shows every night. Or in Da Nang, there is an international fireworks festival, in Cat Ba (Quang Ninh) there will also be a technology fireworks program throughout the summer months. If businesses join hands to promote and bring tourists to Vietnam, the effect will be much greater."
