Ho Chi Minh City leaders visit and pay tribute to artists

On the morning of October 17, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee led by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited, presented gifts and expressed gratitude to many veteran artists who have devoted their lives to the revolutionary arts of Vietnam.

In a warm and affectionate atmosphere, the working delegation including representatives of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee, the Department of Culture and Sports , the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of specialized associations: Theater, Cinema, Music... visited 5 artists living at Thi Nghe Artist Nursing Home including: artist Huynh Thanh Tra, artist Le Trung Can (Mac Can), Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Dang and artist Lam Son.

City leaders visited and talked with Artist Huynh Thanh Tra.

At the Artists' Nursing Home, the members of the group kindly asked about the artists' health and life and shared many professional memories with them. Unable to hide their emotions, the artists said that throughout their career, the most precious thing was to be remembered by the public and city leaders. Visits like these made them feel warm, as if they were returning to the stage, living in the lights and applause of the past.

In particular, Meritorious Artist Dieu Hien, despite her advanced age, still performed a classic cai luong excerpt that she loved, her warm, sweet voice moved the whole group. That moment seemed to recreate the spirit of an artist who persevered, loved her profession, and lived her life to the fullest with art until the end of her life.

Also in the program, the delegation visited writer-director Xuan Phuong, People's Artist Tra Giang, musician Pham Minh Tuan and artist Le Giang. At each place they visited, the meeting atmosphere was filled with affection and connection between those working in cultural leadership and management with artists who have been associated with the city's development for half a century.

Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City leaders said that generations of artists are the precious spiritual assets of Ho Chi Minh City. The contributions and examples of artistic work of you are not only a source of pride but also a source of inspiration for today's young artists to continue to create, preserve and promote the national cultural identity.
