Lao Cai: Heavy rain causes damage to nearly 200 households

On the night of July 26 and early morning of July 27, heavy rains occurred in Cam Duong ward, Lao Cai province, causing localized flooding and property damage to nearly 200 households.

The floods caused inundation and damage to people's property.

Heavy rain caused flood water in Ngoi Duong stream area to rise rapidly, causing damage to many properties and houses of people in the area.

According to statistics, the floods damaged 180 houses, of which 2 collapsed and 178 were flooded; 9.8 hectares of crops, 3.5 hectares of aquaculture ponds were damaged, and more than 2,000 poultry were swept away.

To ensure the safety of the people, the People's Committee of Cam Duong Ward directed the evacuation of 15 households living in areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to the cultural house of the residential group, relatives' houses and other houses in the group.

Authorities support people to overcome the consequences.

Immediately after the disaster occurred, the Cam Duong Ward Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command quickly mobilized forces, with about 1,000 people participating in overcoming the damage; directed specialized departments and villages to organize inspections and statistics on the damage situation, and effectively implemented the "four on-site" motto.

At the same time, continue to review areas at risk of natural disasters and households in dangerous natural disaster areas to have plans to move people and property to safety.
