Laos awards the Order of Itxala to Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung

NDO - On the afternoon of July 29, in the capital city of Vietiane, on behalf of the leaders of the Lao Party, State and Government, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith awarded the Third Class Itxala Medal (Freedom Medal) to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, the first foreign ambassador to Laos to be awarded this noble Medal by the Lao State.

The Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung on his excellent performance during his term of office, welcomed and highly appreciated the positive activities of Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung, which have significantly contributed to promoting and strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries. On behalf of the Lao Party and State leaders, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith awarded the Third Class Itxala Order to recognize and honor Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung's positive contributions to the special relationship between the two countries during nearly 8 years of working in Laos (from December 2016 to present).

The Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also expressed his deep condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , a loyal and beloved revolutionary leader of the Party, State and people of Vietnam; expressed his trust and hope that the Party, State and people of Vietnam will soon overcome this pain and turn the grief into a source of motivation to unite all people, continue the cause of building and developing Vietnam to be constantly prosperous. Expressing his emotion and honor to receive the Third Class Itxala Medal from the Lao State, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung emphasized that this is a special sentiment of the Lao Party, State and people for the Party, State and people of Vietnam; is the assessment of the Lao Party and State for the achievements, contributions and fostering of the Vietnam-Laos relationship of the Embassy and agencies affiliated to the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.

Looking back at the milestones, important events he participated in, witnessed and the memories during his time working in Laos, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung said that the special atmosphere of affection between the two countries has fostered in him a truly special and affectionate feeling for the country and people of Laos; emphasizing that he considers Laos as his Fatherland, his second homeland. Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung also affirmed that this noble medal will be a great source of encouragement and motivation for him and his colleagues to continue to make efforts, constantly promote the good tradition, and foster the Vietnam-Laos relationship to develop more and more strongly and effectively.
