Nepalese Kami Rita set a record of 27 Everest ascents while guiding Vietnamese-born billionaire Chinh Chu to the summit of the world's highest mountain.
"He successfully conquered Mount Everest this morning while guiding a Vietnamese-born climber," Mingma Sherpa, a representative of Seven Summit Treks, the organizer of the climb, said on May 17.
According to HimalayaTimes , Kami Rita's companion on this trip is Chinh Chu, a Vietnamese-American billionaire who founded CC Capital and has an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion.
Kami Rita, 53, held the record for the most Everest climbs since 2018, when he conquered the mountain for the 22nd time. However, that record has been broken several times since then, and the most recent holder is Pasang Dawa, 46, who climbed Everest for the 26th time on May 14th.
With his 27th summit conquered this morning, Kami once again rose to the number one position.

Having been a mountain guide for over two decades, he first climbed the mountain in 1994 while working for a commercial expedition. Since then, Kami has climbed Everest almost every year.
"I didn't intentionally set the records; I just created them in the process of being a guide," he said last month when he arrived at a stopover point on Everest.
Kami was born in 1970 in Thame, a Himalayan village renowned as a birthplace of famous mountaineers. He is also known as "the Everest man." Kami's father and older brother were both guides for expeditions to conquer Mount Everest, and he quickly followed in their footsteps.
Nepal is home to eight of the world's ten highest mountains, including Mount Everest at 8,849 meters. It welcomes hundreds of adventurers every spring, when the weather is warm and calm.
Nepalese authorities have issued 478 permits to foreign climbers to conquer Mount Everest this year, at a cost of $11,000. The total cost of a climb ranges from $45,000 to $200,000.
