Artist Chu Nhat Quang sells paintings to raise funds for community art projects

Painter Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, shares about the special decision to admit young painter Chu Nhat Quang as a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.

The two businessmen who own the work both shared that they bought the painting not only for its artistic value, but also for the spirit of dedication that Chu Nhat Quang pursues. Mr. Do Tuan Anh, CEO of Appota, the new owner of the Linh painting, said: “In a high-pressure technological environment, lacquer brings peace. When technology reaches a high level, it becomes art and Chu Nhat Quang has done that.”

Linh was completed in more than eight months, inspired by the sacred memories of the ancient temple and the image of the Vietnamese Dragon appearing. The work shows spiritual depth combined with traditional lacquer techniques. Meanwhile, Tinh Huong is the result of more than two years of hard work. The work depicts the image of a Zen master standing under the moonlight, on pure lotus leaves. The buyer of the painting, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, General Director of Hunmed Pharmaceuticals, shared that he was conquered by "the good energy and pure tranquility that the work exudes". With lacquer, each layer of paint and each polishing requires time to "mature"; the body alone took three months to achieve the desired durability and depth.

At the event, artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, presented the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Fine Arts and announced Chu Nhat Quang’s special admission to the association. He emphasized: “A young artist not only creates persistently, but also knows how to devote his heart to the community. Donating all the proceeds from selling paintings to autistic children shows responsibility and admirable purity.”

The work Tinh Huong was bought by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung for 100,000 USD.

Chu Nhat Quang said that for him, the value of a work does not lie in numbers. What is important is that art can support someone, can bring more light into life. He affirmed that the money collected will be used transparently for ongoing projects, including a community art fund, a program to support autistic children and an AI project to detect early autism developed by his family.

According to Chu Nhat Quang, the author of the world's largest monolithic lacquer painting, recognized by Guinness World Records, art is only truly sustainable when it is associated with dedication. His next big project will continue his creative journey, where he hopes to combine tradition, modernity and the spirit of serving the community.
