(HNMO) - On May 6, the Traffic Police Department (Hanoi City Police) informed that recently, there have been many traffic accidents causing death and injury to motorcyclists when entering the expressway lane of Thang Long Avenue.
However, despite the danger, motorbike drivers still carelessly violate the law, endangering people and vehicles. To rectify the situation, the Traffic Police Department assigned Traffic Police Teams 6 and 11 to coordinate with the police of Nam Tu Liem District, Hoai Duc District, and Thach That District to strictly handle the situation.
Through analysis, it is found that although the authorities have posted prohibition signs at the intersections of the roads leading to the Boulevard area, the road is reserved for cars traveling at a speed of 60 - 100 km, for many reasons such as fear of traffic jams and following instructions on social networks, many people still violate. The Traffic Police Department noted that the handling process must ensure the dignity of the law but absolutely ensure traffic safety when stopping vehicles for violators, officers, soldiers and road users.
According to the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 6 (Traffic Police Department) set up at the starting point of the expressway connecting to the underpass entering Tran Duy Hung Street, there are many cases of violations when seeing the Traffic Police, turning around and running away, endangering the entire route.
A typical case is NVT (born in 1981 in Hanoi) driving a motorbike with license plate 30P1-10XX on the expressway lane of Thang Long Avenue. When he discovered the police, he turned around, then accelerated and ran away, weaving through many cars. When he was stopped and taken to the checkpoint to be booked, T gave the reason that he did not pay attention to the sign and entered the expressway lane of Thang Long Avenue. He was afraid of being fined so he turned around and ran away, regardless of the danger. Or like Mr. KTH (born in 1979 in Thach That district, Hanoi) gave the reason that because the frontage road outside was congested, he entered the expressway lane to get to work on time.
During the shift on May 6, the task force handled nearly 10 violations. All of these cases were fined 2.5 million VND, had their driving licenses revoked for 4 months, and had their vehicles impounded.
Captain Dang Hoang Anh, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 6, head of the working group, said that Thang Long Avenue is a highway connecting the center of Hanoi with the old National Highway 21A. The entire route is more than 30km long, passing through 2 districts and 3 counties of the city. The route is designed with a dedicated lane for cars with a maximum speed of 80km/h and a service road for motorbikes. Riding a motorbike on the highway is very dangerous for the motorbike driver and everyone else on the highway.
The Traffic Police Department recommends that motorcyclists should not, for any reason, violate the law, endangering themselves and society. All violations will be strictly handled directly on the road and through fines from the traffic surveillance camera system.
Previously, as reported , at around 7:20 a.m. on May 5, on Thang Long Avenue through Nam Tu Liem District (Hanoi), a traffic accident occurred, killing a motorcyclist. At that time, a passenger bus with license plate 15F-001.85 traveling from Hoa Lac to Cau Giay District collided with a female-driven motorbike. As a result, the motorbike driver, Ms. NTV (born in 2000; in Phuc Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province), was thrown into the emergency lane and died on the spot. Ms. NTV was determined to be driving a motorbike in the car lane on Thang Long Avenue.
