Ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a special national monument of Xam Temple, Hong Quang commune

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong awarded the Certificate of special national relic ranking to Xam Temple and presented flowers to congratulate the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Truc district and Hong Quang commune.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for National Defense and Security; Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Tran Minh Thang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Tran Le Doai, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors, along with a large number of local people and tourists from all over the country.

Xam Temple (also known as Xam Communal House, Hat Communal House) is located in Lac Dao village, Hong Quang commune. Xam Temple has a long history of construction, to honor the merits of General Tran Minh Cong (real name Tran Lam), who helped Dinh Bo Linh defeat the 12 warlords, unify the country, and establish Dai Co Viet in the 10th century.

The Gray Temple is a unique architectural work of art, typical of the art of casting and carving wood with many vivid themes such as: dragons, phoenixes interwoven with sword and spear motifs, fire leaves... dating back to feudal dynasties from the Mac Dynasty in the 16th century, the Later Le Dynasty in the 17th and 18th centuries to the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century. These are valuable artistic assets crystallized from the hands and minds of talented artisans over many generations, contributing to affirming the architectural and artistic value of the special national monument of the Gray Temple.

In addition to its architectural value, every year, from the 17th to the 19th of the 8th lunar month, local people solemnly organize a traditional festival to commemorate the merits of General Tran Lam, attracting a large number of people and tourists from all over the world to participate. The cultural activities at the relic meet the religious and spiritual needs of the masses and are a bond that connects the community, guiding people towards the values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty.

With its outstanding historical, cultural, scientific and architectural values, on January 17, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 152/QD-TTg ranking the architectural and artistic relic of Xam Temple, Hong Quang Commune, Nam Truc District as a Special National Monument; becoming one of three relics of Nam Dinh province recognized as Special National Monuments (including the historical and architectural relic of Tran Temple and Pho Minh Pagoda).

At the ceremony, the representative of the Department of Heritage announced the Decision to rank the Xam Temple as a special national relic. Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Le Doai sincerely thanked the attention of the Central Government, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the departments and branches of the province. He emphasized: In order to do a good job of protecting and promoting the value of relics in the coming time, it is recommended that the local authorities and people organize the management and protection of relics according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage, Decision No. 19/QD-UBND dated July 7, 2017 of the Provincial People's Committee on decentralization of management of historical and cultural relics in the province, especially the restoration and embellishment of relics must comply with the provisions of law. Develop regulations and rules to protect and promote the value of relics, creating favorable conditions for people to visit, study and research at the relics. We believe that the special national historical relic of Xam Temple will become a place to educate the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, national pride, and foster the will and aspiration to build a more prosperous and civilized homeland and country for today's and future generations.

After the ceremony, there was a solemn incense offering activity to commemorate the merits of our ancestors. At the end of the ceremony, the delegates visited the Gray Temple, experienced the cultural and religious space of the relic and enjoyed the performances of local people.
