Bringing a colorful cultural space
This is an annual activity of the City to promote tourism in the Capital associated with honoring, preserving and spreading unique intangible cultural values - Vietnamese Ao Dai.
Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Tran Quang said, “Over the past 4 years of organization, the Festival has attracted the attention and active participation of a large number of people in the capital, domestic friends and international tourists, spreading the love of ao dai to many groups in society and promoting ao dai as an impressive souvenir gift for international tourists when coming to Hanoi, Vietnam”.
“For the Capital Tourism Industry, we hope through the annual Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival to write successive stories about the Ao Dai as a “Tourism Ambassador”, a “Cultural Heritage” along with the Ao Dai bringing the image of Hanoi and Vietnam to a large number of international tourists and friends, contributing to promoting the Capital Hanoi - Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive Destination”, Mr. Quang expected.
A series of exciting activities took place
The festival officially opened with the Opening Night of Ao Dai Hanoi - Shining the quintessence of heritage taking place on the evening of November 7 at the main stage of Hanoi Museum.
The program brings together famous artisans, designers, models and artists, bringing elaborately staged performances, where the Ao Dai appears as a symbol of harmony between tradition and modernity, connecting Hanoi with all regions of the country in the breath of heritage.
During the three days of the event, the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2025 will bring to the people and tourists a colorful cultural space. At the Hanoi Museum campus, more than 80 elaborately decorated booths, gathering designers, Ao Dai brands, weaving, sewing, embroidery, silk villages and typical craftsmen of Hanoi and many localities across the country.
Visitors to the Festival can admire the photo exhibition Hanoi - Heritage Ao Dai, looking back at the journey of Ao Dai through the perspective of art - fashion - culture.
In addition, visitors can also rent ready-made ao dai designed in many styles. These ao dai become a bridge between the present and memories, taking the wearer on a journey of experience - taking photos - preserving moments in the context of Khue Van Cac, along with familiar corners of Hanoi's old streets.
In particular, this is an opportunity for visitors to "live in the heritage" through a series of creative experience workshops such as: trying to embroider folk motifs, drawing decorative patterns on ao dai, making accessories, jewelry, making bamboo dragonflies, etc.
The festival takes place with a series of special activities.
In parallel, traditional art performances are held throughout the Festival, to honor the value of intangible heritage and introduce to the public unique art forms of the nation such as ca tru, cheo, quan ho, xam,...
The folk game area is designed as a community connection space, giving participants the opportunity to experience traditional games such as o an quan, dancing bamboo, tug of war, etc.
In addition to the exhibition and experience space, the Festival offers a series of highlight programs: Children's Ao Dai performance "I love Hanoi"; Final round of the Ao Dai design contest - Connecting heritage; Ao Dai parade around Hoan Kiem Lake (afternoon of November 8); Experience tour of Touching Autumn in Hanoi by double-decker bus; Ao Dai performance program "Women of the Capital - Integration and Development".
The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2025 not only contributes to preserving and promoting traditional arts, but also creates a space for exchange between artisans and the public, helping audiences - especially young people - better understand the spiritual beauty and depth of Vietnamese culture.
Through the program, Hanoi City affirms its orientation to build tourism products associated with culture, making Ao Dai a symbol of Hanoi tourism, especially when attracting international visitors in the last months of the year. In addition, it promotes the participation of the community, artisans and businesses in the work of preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values in the new era.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Tourism in October, the total number of tourists to the capital reached 2.27 million. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 695,000 (including 490,000 registered for accommodation), domestic visitors are nearly 1.6 million, up 18% and 5% respectively over the same period in 2024.
Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND9.93 trillion, up 12% year-on-year. Average hotel room occupancy is estimated at 60%, up 0.5 percentage points compared to October 2024.
