International Contemporary Dance Festival Comes to Ho Chi Minh City

With a history of 20 years and 11 times of organization, X POSITION 'O' 2023 (XPO) marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Singapore, co-organized by Saigon Contemporary and Ballet Dance Company - SCBC, in collaboration with Odysseys Theatre Singapore and Bong Sen Traditional Music and Dance Theatre.

The XPO Contemporary Dance Festival is not only a space for the sublimation of art, but also a place where cultures meet and resonate. And the resonance of the two works Silence Of Solitude and Yen Lam are two pieces representing the two contemporary and folk colors in the overall picture of XPO 2023.

In which, Silence of Solitude is a journey to find the inside through different frequencies of sound, from which the audience will travel through different emotional realms, seeing the harmony of movement, emotion and frequency.

Yen Lam is a contemporary folk dance with a journey to preserve the original culture and integrate around family stories, considered a vivid synthesis of the spiritual life and cultural values ​​of Vietnamese people in the South.

This year's International Contemporary Dance Festival expanded its scope by introducing more than 40 international art companies and 550 artists, receiving support and acclaim from the international community, especially embassies, audiences and global artists through international tours and cultural exchanges in many countries and territories: Germany, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore...

SCBC Vietnam representative, director Dao Minh Vu said: "This year's return of the XPO International Contemporary Dance Festival will bring high-level performances, international cultural exchange with the participation of famous dancers such as Danny Tan - Artistic Director of Odyssey Dance Theatre, choreographer Huynh Doan Trinh - Bong Sen Traditional Music and Dance Theatre, choreographer Ha Thanh Hau... The festival also marks the return to the stage of dancer Do Hai Anh - a choreographer,educator and Creative Director of SCBC Vietnam".

Within the framework of XPO 2023, exhibition spaces, connection spaces - building relationships are also integrated so that audiences who love contemporary dance art will have the opportunity to interact with famous artists.
