Last night, at Morodok Techo Stadium, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the opening ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games took place under the chairmanship of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife with the participation of high-ranking Cambodian officials, international guests and a large number of people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that Cambodia is very proud to host the 12th ASEAN Para Games, an event that contributes to promoting the rights of people with disabilities, creating opportunities for disabled athletes to demonstrate their talents, overcome their inferiority complex, and strive for success in sports as well as in life.

President of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation, Mr. Osoth Bhavilai thanked the host country Cambodia and Prime Minister Hun Sen for their dedication to the 12th ASEAN Para Games.

With the theme "Khmer Heart", the opening ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games was elaborately organized by the host country Cambodia with a very grand art and light show, introducing the country, people and unique culture of Cambodia, along with the message of peace , friendship and cooperation among the peoples in the big Southeast Asian family. The performance of people with disabilities added more meaning to the opening ceremony of the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games.

The 12th ASEAN Para Games will take place from June 3-9 with the participation of nearly 1,500 athletes from 11 Southeast Asian countries.
