Before the ceremony, delegates came to offer incense and flowers at the statue and temple of King Quang Trung.
At the ceremony, the delegates and the people of the capital reviewed the heroic tradition of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory. That was in the spring of the year of Ky Dau 1789, under the talented and creative command of Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, the Tay Son army rapidly attacked the North, defeated 290,000 Manchu troops, and achieved the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory. This was a glorious victory in the history of our nation's resistance against foreign invaders, and is the pride of the Vietnamese people.
In his speech at the Commemoration Ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the Dong Da District People's Committee Le Tuan Dinh affirmed: The Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory and the name and career of the great Emperor Quang Trung have become a shining example of intelligence, ingenious military art, typical of the tradition of patriotism, the indomitable spirit of fighting against foreign invaders, a historical testament to the thousand-year-old tradition of patriotism, love of independence and freedom of our people; an affirmation of the spirit of solidarity, courage, indomitable will; an immortal heroic epic in the history of the great struggle to build and defend the country of the nation. Proudly continuing the tradition and heroic spirit of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory of the past; promoting the tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi with a thousand years of culture - Heroic City - City for Peace. With the tradition of heroic Dong Da district, one of the four historic inner-city districts, in 2024, the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Da district united - created - innovated, completing all socio-economic targets, many of which exceeded the set plan.
According to Chairman of Dong Da District People's Committee Le Tuan Dinh, 2025 is the year of many important political events in the capital and the country, the year of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress. This is also the year that Hanoi city continues to implement the theme: "Discipline - Responsibility - Action - Creativity - Development", associated with the implementation of Resolution 15 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks of developing the capital until 2030, with a vision to 2045. With pride in the traditional history of Thang Long - Hanoi, with the rapid momentum of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory in the past, the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Da district will join hands, unite, innovate, create, effectively exploit potentials, advantages, promote all resources to develop Dong Da district, break through with the capital to enter a new era, the era of national growth, contributing to building the capital "Cultured - Civilized - Modern - Happy People".
Following the opening speech, the art program "Dong Da - Famous in Golden History - Steady Steps in the Future" was performed in the form of semi-real scenes combined with modern 3D mapping technology. Staged in 3 chapters with the themes "Heroes in Cloth", "Building a King's Career and Building an Independent Foundation" and "Dong Da - Famous in Golden History - Steady Steps in the Future", the art program told a historical story in a vivid and attractive way. It recreated the image of the Tay Son army under the command of Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue marching at lightning speed to suddenly attack Thang Long citadel, defeating more than 290,000 Qing troops, bringing a glorious victory to the nation. It is worth mentioning that the program was performed in a modern and new way, with chapters, scenes, and sequences, subtly transformed by special effects, attractive music and diverse forms of performance such as: Singing, circus, dance, drum performance...
The special thing is that this year, the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory Celebration Ceremony was held on the evening of February 2, not in the morning as usual, and was broadcast live on channel H1 - Hanoi Radio and Television Station and a number of digital platforms, attracting the attention of many people in the capital.
Previously, on the morning of February 2, the Dong Da Mound Festival took place with many unique activities such as: Incense offering and sacrificial ceremonies by local sacrificial groups; palanquin procession; lion dance and dragon dance performances; Binh Dinh martial arts performances; chess and human chess competitions; calligraphy, introduction of traditional arts... Dong Da Mound Festival continued until February 4 (ie January 7, At Ty year), with many unique cultural and artistic activities serving the people and tourists coming to enjoy spring and attend the festival.
