36 works won the 2024 Buddhist Journalism Award

On the afternoon of June 6, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha held the First National Buddhist Journalism Awards Ceremony in 2024; launching the Buddhist Journalism Awards in 2025.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice President of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Information and Communications Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha emphasized that this is a special event with profound significance, taking place right after the great success of the Vesak 2025 Festival, as well as on the occasion of preparing for the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), once again affirming the spirit of engagement, harmony and development of Vietnamese Buddhism in the new era.

Venerable Thich Gia Quang said: Since its official launch on June 18, 2024, the 2024 National Buddhist Journalism Awards has received attention and positive responses from a large number of reporters and collaborators across the country. Many quality works have been published in press agencies, imbued with the breath of the times and the spirit of Buddhism.

With the theme: "Propaganda of good lifestyle, Vietnamese Buddhism accompanies the nation", the award has 534 valid works entered the Final Round, including: Printed and electronic newspapers (288 works), Radio and Television (228 works), Photojournalism (18 works).

There were 39 awards given, including 33 awards for 5 journalism categories; 1 award for the press agency with the most entries; 1 individual award for the most entries; 3 awards for pilgrimages to Buddhist sites in India and 1 Special award.

At the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded a Special Prize worth 50 million VND to the work: The program series "Sacred Buddha Realm" broadcast on Nghe An Radio and Television Station along with other awards.

On behalf of the Jury, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Nguyen Minh Duc shared: Through the judging process, although it was the first time the award was held, it gathered many authors from press agencies in different regions to participate, with a full range of topics, showing the appeal of the topic of Buddhism.

Highly appreciating the 2024 Buddhist Journalism Award, the Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper commented that, in addition to being attractive, the works participating in the award all have a very high intellectual content, reflecting many meaningful activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. For the reflective articles, the journalists have put their heart, effort and sense of responsibility into their journalistic works.

Journalist Nguyen Minh Duc sincerely thanked the Buddhist Sangha and the Central Information and Communications Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha for organizing a playground and a meaningful award for journalists. He said that Hanoi Moi Newspaper will actively participate in the Buddhist Journalism Award 2025 to contribute to spreading the spirit of "good life, good religion" accompanying the nation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Following the success of the 2024 Buddhist Journalism Award, at the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang launched the 2025 Buddhist Journalism Award. The 2025 Buddhist Journalism Award is expected to continue to be a meaningful gathering place, creating opportunities for journalists to exchange experiences and improve their journalism skills in the field of Buddhism.

Accordingly, the works submitted for the award will be published and broadcast between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025. The deadline for receiving works is from June 6, 2025 to January 5, 2026. The award ceremony will be held in June 2026 in Hanoi . The Organizing Committee will award 1 Special Prize: 100 million VND; 3 First Prizes, each worth 25 million VND; 3 Second Prizes, each worth 15 million VND; 3 Third Prizes, each worth 10 million VND; 15 Encouragement Prizes, each worth 5 million VND. In addition, the Organizing Committee will award 20 million VND to press agencies with many quality works submitted to the contest; and 10 million VND to individuals with many quality works submitted to the contest.
