On the evening of September 26, Lam Binh district, Tuyen Quang , will hold a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Recognition of the Fire Dancing Ceremony of the Pa Then people, Hong Quang commune, as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Fire Jumping Festival (Po Goi) is a festival with very unique cultural identities, carrying sacred and mysterious meanings of the Pa Then people.

The festival usually takes place during the off-season, when all farming work is finished, starting from October 16 of the previous lunar year to January 15 of the following lunar year.

In the spiritual life of the Pa Then people, there is always the concept that around them there are gods protecting, sheltering, and helping them overcome dangers and hardships to survive and make a living.

For the Pa Then people, the supreme god is the god of fire and fire brings them luck, so when the Fire Dance Festival takes place, everyone in the village is present to cheer.

Fire dancing is a ritual to welcome the gods down to earth to enjoy with the villagers, symbolizing the gods coming down to earth to bathe and bless the villagers with good health, favorable weather, and good crops.
