At the interactive program "Upgrade - Upgrade" taking place on November 28, tax, technology and finance experts trained and answered questions for hundreds of business households and enterprises about tax declaration.

This is an event organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in coordination with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Tax Department ( Ministry of Finance ), the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Thu Duc Ward.

Small businesses do not easily get input invoices.

Bringing a stack of various business documents to the event early in the morning, Mr. Nguyen Tien Trieu,   A school canteen owner said his goal is to learn more about technology applications, especially those that help reduce paperwork and facilitate business operations.

"Each item sold to students costs only a few thousand dong, but the input invoice from the supplier is a matter of great concern to me," he said. He has prepared documents to discuss directly with tax officials about the regulations on electronic invoices.

Similarly, Mr. Cao Quoc Tuan, owner of Nam Vang noodle shop, said that annual revenue from the food and beverage industry often exceeds 200 million VND, and can be classified as a business household applying the new tax declaration and payment method from next year.

As a young business model serving dynamic customers, Mr. Tuan is interested in applying digital transformation, especially electronic invoices. However, his goal when attending is not only to learn about regulations, but also to master the new tax declaration process, how to operate the system, especially in the context of expected changes in tax policy.

Mr. Tuan admitted that the initial tax policy change will be difficult, because businesses need time to get used to it. However, if the tax industry implements it systematically and has specific instructions, in the long run it will be more convenient for people and help manage stores transparently and effectively.

Although he was mentally prepared, he still had many concerns about the possibility of declaring according to the new regulations, worried that he would not declare accurately because he was not familiar with the system. He was also concerned about how to handle errors if he declared incorrectly or incompletely, and what specific guidance mechanisms the tax authority had and what the adjustment process was to avoid legal risks.

Regarding input and output invoices, although admitting that the food and beverage sector is not too complicated, Mr. Tuan said that being properly guided from the beginning will help businesses feel more secure when complying with regulations. "I do not have specific questions, but I hope to listen and update information from the program to grasp correctly and avoid mistakes in the process of fulfilling tax obligations," he shared.

Support tax reporting but need more support

Sharing at the program, Mr. Hoang, a business owner in Thu Duc Ward, said that he was interested in the event and participated immediately after receiving the information. According to him, switching to the declaration tax type has clear advantages: transparent payment, clear paperwork, making it easier for business owners to manage and control.

"The ward government has supported many training sessions, so everything has gradually become more favorable. Switching to a new business model will be difficult and confusing at first, especially for older businesses that are not familiar with technology, but gradually they will get used to it," Mr. Hoang shared.

Regarding the grocery business model, Ms. Tran Hoa Phuong said that she has switched from lump-sum tax to declaration for many months and has seen many positive points. According to her, the positive point is transparency thanks to input and output invoices, which helps to easily control finances, revenue and expenditure, and facilitates cooperation with partners and businesses.

However, Ms. Phuong also admitted many difficulties such as having to continuously learn to get used to it, high software operating costs, and many business fluctuations. In particular, the prices of purchased and sold goods are sometimes inconsistent, depending largely on the policies of manufacturers and large agents, leading to difficulties in correct declaration, and being easily misunderstood by tax authorities as tax evasion.

"There are times when businesses change prices or run promotions, so the unit must follow suit. For example, buying at 10 dong but selling at 8 dong, or sometimes selling at 11 or 12 dong. If the tax authority checks and finds the buying and selling prices unreasonable, we may be suspected of tax evasion," Ms. Phuong expressed her concern.

Mr. Phan Tran Hoang Lam - Deputy Head of the Legal Estimation Team of the Basic Tax Department 2 - said that all tax procedures for business households will be carried out via the eTax Mobile application. Households will be trained and supported in the conversion process, and will register and use electronic invoices if they are required to do so.

Business households need to gradually approach transparent, clear and proactive management methods through self-declaration and self-payment mechanisms. From the perspective of tax authorities, the unit will always stand side by side with business households so that the conversion takes place smoothly and effectively.
