U17 Vietnam must beat U17 UAE to continue |
Falling into the "death group" in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals, U17 Vietnam caused a big surprise when they held U17 Australia and U17 Japan to consecutive draws. With 2 points in hand, coach Cristiano Roland and his team still have a chance to win a ticket to the quarterfinals, thereby winning the right to participate in this year's U17 World Cup.
The task of U17 Vietnam in the final match is to defeat U17 UAE, who have 3 points in hand. If they win, U17 Vietnam will have 5 points and will definitely be in the top 2 of Group B regardless of the result of the match between U17 Japan and U17 Australia. If they draw or lose, U17 Vietnam will be officially eliminated.
Overcoming U17 UAE is not an easy challenge. After losing 1-4 to U17 Japan in the opening match, U17 UAE stood up strongly with a 2-0 victory over U17 Australia. This team owns 15-year-old striker Jayden Adetiba, who is playing for Arsenal Academy, and formidable names such as Faysal Mohammed, Mohamed Buti. However, they will be without midfielder Ali Hassan due to suspension.
In this match, U17 Vietnam will have to change stadiums. After 2 matches at Okaz, coach Cristiano Roland and his team will move to King Fahd Sports City Stadium. This may affect the players in red, but the whole team has been actively practicing to get used to the stadium for the past 2 days.
In the match at the same time, Japan U17 only needs to draw with Australia U17 to secure a ticket to the quarterfinals. However, they must win if they want to be sure of winning the group. Meanwhile, Australia U17 only has a way to win to advance to the next round.
