The journey to the final of the AVC Nations Cup this year was very different for the two teams. With the home field advantage, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won like a knife to advance to the final match.
In the semi-final against a highly rated Kazakhstan, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still won with a score of 3-1. But in this match, many problems of the whole team gradually revealed. Among them, the first weakness reappeared, something that had existed for many years.
That is the reason why the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost the first set since the beginning of the tournament. Overcoming this weakness right before the final match is not easy. But with the class and experience of the veteran players, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still has the right to hope.
This is the third consecutive year they have reached the final of the AVC Nations Cup (formerly the AVC Challenge Cup). If they win, they will also have won the tournament for the third consecutive time.
Meanwhile, the Philippines only made it to the finals for the first time in history. Their journey was much more arduous and difficult than the host team. In the group stage, they unexpectedly lost to Iran, a team that was considered quite weak.
In the semi-finals, the Philippines almost lost to Chinese Taipei. It took them 5 thrilling games to win 3-2. But by overcoming difficulties, the Philippines showed that they are not easy to defeat.
The final match between the two teams will take place at 8pm tonight, June 14. Before that, at 5:30pm, there will be a third-place match between Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan.
All AVC Nations Cup 2025 matches will be broadcast on On Sports platforms. Match kick-off times may be later than scheduled due to extended matches.
