The Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation confirmed that there was an error in the assessment of the result of the match between Tran Ngoc Luong and Robson De Oliveira Soares on April 22 at Rach Mieu Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.
"This mistake was not negative but due to the professional level and judgment errors of the individual referees of the match; especially the wrong judgment in the second round of the two referees scoring 1 and 2, " concluded the Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
The referee determined that Tran Ngoc Luong won over the Brazilian boxer.
In the above match, the referee team in charge of the match included Mr. Ngo Quoc Thang, Mr. Tran Trung Nghia and Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa. The two referees Ngo Quoc Thang and Mr. Tran Trung Nghia must stop refereeing until the end of the 2023 LION Championship season. Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa will stop officiating at the next 3 events of this tournament system.
The Professional Board of the Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation has seriously reviewed the shortcomings in the management, coordination and assignment of referees. In the coming time, the Federation will focus on training, developing, improving the qualifications, expertise and professionalism of the national referee force.

The match between Tran Ngoc Luong and Robson de Oliveira Soares has been controversial in recent days. Spectators believe that the referees scored incorrectly because the Brazilian boxer clearly had the upper hand over Tran Ngoc Luong. Immediately after the match, the Vietnam MMA Federation held a meeting, reviewed the video tape, listened to reports, opinions, comments and analysis from experts to evaluate the referees' scoring.
LION Championship organizers plan to hold a rematch for the two fighters on June 3. This match has been upgraded to Class A, matching the quality and appeal that Tran Ngoc Luong and Robson de Oliveira Soares showed in their match last weekend.
